A Study On New Orleans Essay

For more than two centuries, coffee has been a fundamental part of the culinary and social culture of
New Orleans.
It s not just the city s penchant for chicory café au lait served alongside warm beignets. Nor is it just
landmark gathering spots like Café du Monde and or Morning Call Coffee Stand that spawned the
notion of the laborers coffee break and served locals and tourists for generations.
And it isn t solely boozy Café Brulôt, the brandy spiked coffee drink New Orleans families serve in
slender china cups that makes
New Orleans a true coffee town.
Alongside these the gustatory expressions is the city s historic and longstanding role in the coffee
trade. New Orleans has been a significant coffee port for more than 200 years. Since the early 19th
century, import companies have brought in green coffee beans from around the world through the Port
of New Orleans. Today, it is the second largest coffee port in the country.
Among those importers, Westfeldt Brothers Inc. is one of the oldest of its kind in the United States.
The company was first founded in
Mobile, Alabama, in 1851 by Swedish Vice Consul Gustavus Adolphus
George Westfeldt, who had immigrated to the U.S. in 1835. Westfeldt moved to New Orleans in 1853.
By 1880, his company had become one of the country s principal green coffee importers. Since then, it
has been run by six generations of Westfeldts.
The latest generation is the first to be represented by a

The Beginning Of Civilizations On Education
The world we live in today is a very good example of a dystopia. Problems have riddled our societies
from race fighting, to bigotry, and even mocking people for choices about their bodies or genders.
There are many choices that have led to both the causes and the effects of what we live in now. Many
people are discussing how to turn our current situations around, this is how I will accomplish these
goals in my utopia. The beginning of civilizations starts on education, as future generations are taught
the ideals and beliefs of a society; this leads me to take the same exact step in implementing my
strategy. Basic education will be very similar to the current American system through high school.
Education will start with a strict adherence and following of my former credo. Continued education
through college will be payed for, but only for the most intelligent of the populace. The less intelligent
will be allowed to attend trade schools, or apprenticeships in any type of labor job. Outside learning
on one s own time is highly encouraged to continue to grow overall as a person, which also elevates a
person religiously. Not only for that reason but also to be able to get into college if they don t want to
have to go to technical school, or if they want to achieve a high position in the military. Fighting and
the establishment of militaries have been around pretty much as long as there have been disagreements
about different things. People are constantly fighting, which

H C Starck Case Essay
H. C. Stark Inc. Case
1. Why are the lead times so long? H. C. Stark Inc. invested in the SAP R/3 Enterprise Resource
Planning software for the company but, only the finance dept. uses the software while the production,
scheduling, shop floor scheduling and raw material orders and are still processed manually. These
departments still believe in using the paper method of processing the transmittal of the sales orders
from customers to the operations department. This process is longer than incorporating the software to
accomplish the same tasks. Starck doesn t make full use of the functions in SAP R/3. In fact, schedule
misses were mostly due to equipment failure. Mike from the sales dept stated there was an

Breakdown is done on the large mill in a free rolling mode, and brings it to as thin as 1/8 inch. From
1/8 inch down is finish rolling, which is done in tension. Starck may considering investing another
large mill so that no breakdown needs to be done, which could save time for production.
Customer demand and product preference should be focused on to produce more of what the customer
wants and to allow for stock reduction. 3. What are the costs from reducing the lead times? Jamie
Finchbaugh of Industryweek.com states Reducing lead time isn t about capacity. The amount of work
that can get done is usually still the amount of work that can get done. What lead time does is deliver
the request sooner to whomever needs something done.
The benefits from reducing lead times are the edge in the marketplace. The company may become the
leader on providing metallurgical products made from Tantalum while increasing sales numbers and
established customers. Reducing lead times leads to delivering faster; giving Starck a competitive
advantage. The drive and quest to lead time reduction also forces Starck to eliminate other wastes
throughout the plant.

Inciting Incident Monologue
Who is she and how does she know my name? There are more eyes staring at me with disgust than I
can count. I feel like an animal at the zoo, having my every move observed. I can t move, I can t think
and I can t speak. These people don t know me or what happened that night. If I were bold I would say
something back at them. I can feel my throat closing in as I think. I would never be able to speak. I
don t know what to do. I feel to blame for this girl whose brother got arrested at that party. He got

In Speak the major problem is that Melinda is not able to speak up for herself from the moment she
was raped at the party. She speaks very minimally throughout the book and the reader mainly just gets
insight into Melinda s thoughts rather than hearing what she says. This problem gets solved when
Andy Evans traps Melinda in her closet and attempts the rape her again. He is frustrated with her
because he feels that she started spreading lies, and now every girl in school is talking... like I m some
kind of pervert. (193). At first, things are just the same with Melina; she can t find the power within
herself to speak. Andy is hurting her and thinks that she won t do anything to help herself, he says You
re not going to scream. You didn t scream before. (194). The climax then occurs as Melinda explodes;
she screamed and pushed Andy off of her. She gained the courage to speak, she told Andy I said no.
(195) and he nodded. Melinda finally found her voice and it is going to help her on her pathway
towards emotional recovery from everything she has been

Sectional Garage Door Essay
Sectional Garage Door
Home owners are now considering the garage door as an important element in the overall façade of
the house. Not only should a garage door be functional, it also has to look good.
There are many garage door options available. In choosing the one for your garage, you will need to
consider durability, design, maintenance and cost. A popular choice among home owners is the
sectional garage door.
What is a Sectional Garage Door?
Sectional garage doors consist of large, separate panels, which are positioned parallel to the ceiling.
They open vertically going up, suspended just under the ceiling. This type of garage door is typically
composed of up to eight sections hinged together and held in position by brackets. This mechanism
allows the door to slide up and down.
How are Sectional Garage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because sectional doors can be easily fitted into any opening. Also, they typically don t take up
too much vertical space when opened. The doors don t swing out when opened. Instead, they slide and
curve upwards above the opening and into the ceiling.
Advantages and Disadvantages of a Sectional Garage Door
Sectional doors are considered the best option for driveways with limited spaces. You don t have to
move your car away from the garage when opening the door, as what happens when you have an up
and over type of garage door. This means you can park your vehicle close while waiting for the garage
door to open. When opened, sectional doors provide access to the entire drive through height and
width, which make them great options for garage owners with large vehicles.
This type of garage door also offers flexibility in terms of materials used. You can choose materials
that provide the functionality you need. For instance, if you want ventilation in the garage, you can opt
for panels with vents. If you prefer additional lighting, panels made of glass can be a good

Mahan s Influence On Alfred Maan
Alfred Mahan is a graduate from Naval Academy, whose thoughts have major impacts on the structure
of the Navy in 19th century. The influence of historical events have a particular effect in his naval
strategy.
In his new science of naval strategy, Mahan gave quite an importance to Naval communications, and
control of these communications. He even contends that interrupting adversaries communications is
the root of national power. He contends that the strategic points of high importance
In addition to that, Mahan contended that the organized forces of the enemy should be the primary
objective, and the mission to go against these navies could be achieved by being a sea power.
According to him, war was not fighting but business, and in this ... Show more content on

Mahan contended the necessity of focusing the fleet in particular points to confront the enemy
strongly, instead of doing commerce raiding. This new system was the main reason of creation of
many battle ships. As the US was a maritime country, the creation of extra number of ships should not
be into disadvantage to a country surrounded by waters.
As Mahan contended, there was supposed to be sufficient battleships for the protection of three waters
surrounding the country, after that, it was time to spread the sea power to all around the world by
bringing together the land forces with maritime foces. In other words, Mahan created the idea of
having soldiers ready for the interest of the nation all around the world, which is still being used by
the Navy and Marine corps.
And finally, in the writing, it is criticized that the new ideas of Mahan caused problems in the
organization of the Navy, which later caused the Navy to have structural changes. This point should be
considered as another improvement from the new navy strategy of Mahan since a new system brings
together new improvements, but gradually.
All in all, Mahan was a leader of development, and no one can argue that the US Navy is still using
the inheritances from Mahan in terms of naval

Introduction: Hard water is a term used to refer to water which has high concentrations of magnesium,
calcium, and iron ions. (Lerner, 2014) In this experiment, concentrations of magnesium and calcium
ions were the main focus.
Water hardness is an important factor to consider because it has a great effect on the everyday lives of
people around the world. In most places, drinking hard water does not contribute a significant amount
of calcium or magnesium towards the recommended amount for the human diet, but it can in locations
where the drinking water is extremely hard. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Molar concentration is simply the number of moles of ions per liter of water. Parts per million is a
ratio of weights, and for every one part per million, there is 1 pound of solute for every million pounds
per liter. (Hardness)
EDTA titration, as well as AA (atomic absorption spectrophotometry) are two main ways in which
water hardness is measured. EDTA is performed by adjusting the pH of the water with the use of a
buffer, then adding an indicator to the solution, which will turn red if calcium ions are present. If only
magnesium is present in the solution, it will remain blue. Then an EDTA solution is added to the
solution. The complete reaction of all calcium and magnesium ions with the EDTA solution is
represented by the change in color of the solution from red to blue. (Thomson, 2014)AA, or atomic
absorption spectrophotometry, is performed by turning the water into an aerosol, which is then burned,
and the internal computer system of the machine uses the absorbance of light to provide a number
which corresponds to the concentration of ions in the water sample. (The Royal Society of Chemistry
Fine Chemicals and Medicinals Group). It is important to use more than one method to measure water
hardness, especially a method which relies mainly on the use of technology, to lower the possibilities
for human error, as well as to provide multiple values of hardness for comparison.
In order to remove the calcium and magnesium ions from water, it is put

The FIFA Executive Committee consists of a President, elected by the Congress in the year following
a FIFA World Cup, eight vice presidents, fifteen members, appointed by the confederations and
associations, and one female member elected by the Congress. It meets at least twice a year, with the
mandate for each member lasting four years, and its role includes determining the dates, locations, and
format of tournaments, appointing FIFA delegates to the IFAB, and electing and dismissing the
General Secretary on the proposal of the FIFA President. Sepp Blatter is the current President of FIFA
and has held that post since June 1998. He has stated that he will step down once a new president has

The Films Of Federico Fellini Analysis
Bondanella, P. (2002). The Films of Federico Fellini. Cambridge, UK: Cambridge University Press.
The Films of Federico Fellini examines the career and work of Italy s most revered filmmakers. By
analyzing the masterpieces of Fellini, the book attempts to categorize the influence of his work, and
explain some of his interests in fantasy, the irrational, and individualism. Bondanella essentially
rejects more common ways of analyzing Fellini s work and favors trying to explore the development
of his unique and personal cinematic style. Bondanella highlights some of the major accomplishments
in the life of the renowned Italian filmmaker. One of the most striking features of Bondanella work is
his ability to tell the story of Fellini by using the works of the filmmaker. In particular, Bondanella is
able to draw on a new archive of manuscripts, obtained from Fellini and his scriptwriters. This level of
in depth analysis allows researchers to get a detailed view of Fellini s work that has inspired
generations of not only Italian filmmakers, but also in the rest of the world. The author suggests that
Fellini s use of realism in film allows the audience to connect on a whole another level of intimacy
with the characters in the film, allowing for better characterization in his cinema. We can use this
information accumulated by Bondanella to emphasize the tremendous importance of Fellini s work.
The further analysis of Fellini s films, such as La Dolce Vita, 812, and City of Women,

Carnival Liberty
Carnival Liberty
It was the most breathtaking, amazing, experience I ve ever witnessed in my life time so far. It was
2:00 am cold Saturday morning on January 2nd, and we were on a bus heading to Chicago airport. I
was going on a Carnival Cruise for 7 days with my boyfriend s family.
On the way to the Chicago airport we all took a huge bus with rows of bench seats that picked us up
from Dubuque then took us to the airport. I tried to sleep on the way there but I was just too excited to
be on this vacation. The bus ride took around 4 hours and we had to stop at least three times. The first
time was because the bus was overheating, the second time was for a bathroom break and the last time
was because the bus was overheating again. I thought we were not going to make it to Chicago with
the bus overheating but we did. We all piled out of the bus excited to stretch our legs and happy we
finally made it.
We all entered the airport with our heavy luggage and tired bodies. After we all got situated we had to
go through security and bag check. I realized I remember why I hated airports because of the lines we
had to wait in and the various amounts of families running around like a chicken with their head cut
off. As we got through all the long lines of people we waited at our terminal for our flight time to
board. Finally it was time to board our plane ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Stylistic Prose Techniques In Cry, The Beloved Country By...
Stylistic prose technique 1: IMAGERY Authors who use imagery wish to give the readers a physical
feeling of literature while reading any sort of piece. It allows for the audience to connect to the
characters on a deeper level by having them experience the same feelings, smells, noises, etc, as did
the roles in the novel. Alan Paton uses a strong voice packed with imagery in his passage, For they
grow red and bare; they cannot hold the rain and mist, and the streams are dry in the kloofs. Too many
cattle feed upon the grass, and too many fires have burned it. Stand shod upon it, for it is coarse and
sharp, and the stones cut under the feet. It is not kept or guarded, or cared for, it no longer keeps men,
guards men, cares for men (Paton, 34). The overwhelming senses of touch and vision are more than
prevalent in this brief passage, with Paton perfectly conveying the atmosphere of rural South Africa in
the 1940 s. The reader gets a catholic impression of the arid climate as well as the deteriorated lands
on which it rests. By including this in his novel, Alan Paton establishes a thorough setting, one of
which the reader can fully understand for the remaining duration of Cry, The Beloved Country.
Stylistic prose technique 2: DRAMATIC IRONY In short, dramatic irony is in any given literary
scenario when future actions can be accurately anticipated by the readers but not the characters. It
often includes cliches and is used by authors wishing to give their audience insight that their
characters do not yet have. Powerful dramatic irony is demonstrated in the scene: Shall I get your
ticket for you, umfundisi? Then you need not lose your place in the line while I go to the ticket
office... As though he has suddenly though of something he left the line, and walked to the corner, but
there was no sign of the young man... Where is the ticket office my friend? You get your ticket on the
bus. There is no ticket office (Paton, 49). Alan Paton is able to show how vulnerable and naïve
Stephen Kumalo is to the big city; using something so predictable as a sly, nevertheless, predictable
con artist, he shows how foreign lies and deceit are to the pastor.
Stylistic prose technique 3: LOGOS Logos is a stylistic prose

Financing Your Business
ABSTRACT
Finances can be described in many ways. Throughout life we all use finances in some type of way.
Whether it s loaning money to a friend or borrowing money from the bank. Without financing we
would not be able to complete most of the things that we need to do in our day to day life. It plays a
very important role. There are many different ways to financing your own business. Whether you use
the stock market, an investment banker or any of the numerous other organizations that are made
available to you. What are the risks involved with using an investment banker? What is the stock

Second would be stock, you gather funds from investors so the burden of cost is not completely yours,
but the setback is that you will need to share profits and keep investors happy. You can also borrow the
money from friends or a lender to finance this idea. Borrowing will give them the financing to use for
startup costs and any other expenditure that occur. They can also make drafts for day to day borrowing
and manage the cash flow. In addition, they can attract outside investors by selling shares of the
business to venture capitalists. As with everything, there is a down side with borrowing money. If the
company does not produce enough revenue to cover borrowed funds used, the ability to pay back the
money borrowed would become an issue. In turn, this could potential create future issues with the
bank, as the bank could become unwilling to finance any additional loans for the business.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, the best management decision would be to sell the license of the company. It would
ensure the growth of the product and take it to a greater level. As previously stated, it would open
them up to greater markets, since this product has the usability in other items. The cost to manufacture
the item would not be that great of expenditure to the company. As a second option, they could try to

Rain water harvesting and Artificial recharge of ground water
Rainwater harvesting is the technique of collection
and storage of rain water at surface or in subsurface aquifer, before it is lost as surface run off or as
evaporation.
The artificial recharge to ground water is a process by which the ground water reservoir is augmented
at a rate exceeding that under natural conditions of replenishment utilizing suitable civil construction
techniques.

A series of small bunds are made across selected nala sections such that the flow of surface water in
the stream channel is impeded and water is retained on pervious soil/rock surface for longer period.
Nala bunds are constructed across bigger nalas of second order streams in areas having gentler slopes.
A nala bund acts like a mini percolation tank.

Site Characteristic and Design Guidelines
The total catchment of the nala should normally be between 40 to 100 Hectares. The rainfall in the
catchment should be 25 m). Aquifer is over lain by impervious thick clay beds. Injection well can be
with or without assembly. The Injection well with assembly should have screen in the potential aquifer
at least 3 5 m below the water level. The injection well without assembly is filled with gravel to
provide hydraulic continuity so that water is directly recharged into the aquifer.

The Island Of Dr. Moreau
Throughout time ethically controversial sciences, from vivisection to stem cell research, have
embodied a negative stereotype in the eyes of western societies, and have consequently withdrawn the
freedom that allows scientists to make innovative discoveries. In H.G. Wells novel The Island of
Doctor Moreau, this perspective is portrayed through Edward Prendick, an upper class English
gentleman with a subtle passion for science. After being stranded on a remote pacific island isolated
from civilization, Prendick s perspective on Dr. Moreau s unethical and controversial studies begins to
transform over time. The idea that isolation from civilization can result in the freedom to explore one s
curiosity is portrayed through Prendick s initial unacceptance of Moreau s vivisection, which, as time
on the island elapses, reshapes to one of interest. In The Island of Doctor Moreau, as Edward Prendick
spends more time away from civilized society, his perspective regarding Dr. Moreau s ethically
controversial discipline, vivisection, begins to shift from a sense of repugnance to one of enthusiasm.
Through these perspectives, H.G. Wells argues that Prendick s isolation from civilization is the
principle force allowing him to freely embrace the unethical studies on the island and explore his
natural curiosity for science, whereas the consequences from negative stereotypes surrounding
controversial science would discourage this curiosity in a civilized society.
Initially, since Prendick

Mother and Daughter Relationship Exposed in Joyce Carol...
Mother and Daughter Relationship Exposed in Joyce Carol Oates Short Story, Shopping
The relationship between a mother and a daughter is one of complications, heartaches, and sweet
rewards. This is no exception between Nola and Mrs. Dietrich, characters in Shopping by Joyce Carol
Oates. The tribulations of their relationship are shown during their annual shopping trip. In the time
spent together, Nola is obviously trying to break free from her mother and become her own woman.
This coming of age path is expressed by her private thoughts and answers in monosyllables (Oates
834). As Nola desperately tries to acquire her own self, her Mrs. Dietrich desperately tries to hang
onto the child in Nola. She tries to stay in her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her desire to make Nola happy shows that she is trying, but inside thoughts show that she does not
like the way Nola dresses, or the clothes she picks out, or the restaurant they eat at. Her emotional
attachment and need for her daughter overpowers her knowledge that it is time for Nola to grow up.
She would prefer for Nola to remain young. Despite her mother s desire, Nola is growing up and
becoming her own person.
Nola has embraced the beginning of adulthood and handles it very well. She tries to be an individual
by picking out clothes that are funky and fashionable (Oates 836). She makes an astute and mature
recognition be expressing the fact that she is not worried about the disheveled woman [ s] affect on the
people but the effect the people will have on the women (Oates 836). She also defiantly smokes a
cigarette in front of her mother. The rebellion is trying to show that she is old enough to not have to
follow her mother s rules or that she even cares what her mother thinks. However, she has not reached
full maturation because she is unable to recognize that her mother only wants to be a part of her life.
Her mother has needs too. Her mother only wants to be loved, but Nola is constantly pushing her
mother away.
In a store, Mrs. Dietrich watches her [Nola] covertly, and once Nola notices that she is being watched,
she walks away angrily (Oates 836). She does not see that Mrs. Dietrich may only

The Professional Career Of An Mba Student
Masters of Business Administration students must have the ability within them to lead as well as learn.
They must also be driven individuals willing to make the sacrifices in order to achieve this endeavor
of higher education. This endeavor will in turn benefit the learner in many ways, it will create an
opportunity of higher earnings and potential sign on bonuses as well as allow for higher positions
within a company and often creates the next CEO of a company.

In the following article males or females did not solicit a significant result when other factors such as
marital status, or socioeconomic status were held constant however, when they did a cross sectional
study they found that women and blacks had lower chances of promotion which falls in line with other
studies findings. The main finding of the study by Supangco was that companies mostly consider
experience. Experience is essentially invaluable and can result in multiple promotions and significant
pay increases. (Supangco, 2011)
The Supangco study set out to better understand the world of business and the hiring processes used.
The previous findings show that it is still a male dominated field but women and African Americans
are starting to break down the walls. I would have liked to see a little more information on the results
of professionals that had a low socioeconomic status or single status. These two categories were
mentioned but never elaborated on in the results.
In the article by Agnello and Hunt it was debated if a part time degree or a full time degree was more
beneficial to the students, were they more successful? The authors stated we find a part time degree is
a worthwhile investment in human capital particularly if the degree is completed early in an
individuals career (Agnello Hunt, 1976). The article goes on to say that it doesn t seem to matter if a
student goes full or part time the knowledge increases to the same level in the

Something Wicked This Way Come Analysis
Symbolism can be presented as both people or things and can be used to lead up into something
greater, such as the theme it s holding up. Two friends, Jim and Will, go to a carnival full of evil
trickery. The carnival is lead by Mr. Dark. Mr. Dark, intimidates people and inspires fear when he
wishes. Jim and Will go on to take down Mr. Dark only to find out that it s not up to them to take
down Mr. Dark but Charles s. Themes and symbols are both important in stories. Something Wicked
This Way comes is no exception. Two of the many themes in the story are the power of love and
identity. Three symbols that go with the power of love are the bullet shot by Charles, the hug given to
Mr. Dark by Charles and Will. Three symbols for identity are the mirror maze, Charles Halloway, and

Failure Of The American Education System
Good afternoon my fellow Americans. Today I stand here on one of the greatest countries in the
world. America was built on the simple principles brought by our founding fathers, liberty and justice
for all. What makes this country great is the people that work hard every day with the liberties granted
to them. Our great people need a great leader to protect their liberties in order for them to prosper. It
is, without a doubt, true that America and the American people are great. However, I can t put the
leaders that lead this great country in the same category. The American people are not oblivious to the
failures of our elected officials. They have forgotten to protect our liberties, our liberties in education,
in healthcare, and to our environment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Universal Healthcare is the approach we should be taking to insure all Americans. My practice has
allowed me to visit many parts of the world each telling a story. I ve visited numerous countries with
Universal HealthCare and have seen a much better health system than America. In fact, the OCED
(Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) reported that public spending on health
care amounted to $4,197 per capita in the U.S. in 2013, more than in any other country except Norway
($4,981) and the Netherlands ($4,495), despite the fact that the U.S. was the only country studied that
did not have a universal health care system. In the U.S., about 34 percent of residents were covered by
public programs in 2013, including Medicare and Medicaid. By comparison, every resident in the
United Kingdom is covered by the public system and spending was $2,802 per capita. We have fewest
practicing physicians, physicians visits, and lowest life expectancy rate compared with countries with
Universal healthcare system. This proves that America needs to rethink our public health

Also, the retail investors generally look at the subscription levels of the QIB portion of the offer to get

2005 allowed at least 5% of the QIB s reserved portion to go to Mutual Funds which gave an
opportunity for the retail investor to get a bigger share of the pie through the Mutual Funds. THE
STATE OF THE QIP (QUALIFIED INSTITUTIONAL PLACEMENT) SINCE IT S INCEPTION IN
2006 QIPs are a quick and cost effective method of raising funds by way of private placement of
securities or convertible bonds with QIBs. Before the introduction of Chapter XIII A in the SEBI DIP
Guidelines, an Indian listed company intending to raise further capital from the public markets in
India had the option of doing so by offering securities through a follow on public offering or
preferential allotments. In May, 2006, SEBI came out with it s guidelines for raising funds through the
QIP route. Since then, a lot many companies have gone this route. The intention of SEBI behind
allowing QIP Scheme, is to promote the domestic private placement which is generally considered to
have two prime advantages over FCCBs (Foreign Currency Convertible Bonds) and GDRs (Global
Depository Receipts), i.e. keeping liquidity in the same market and faster way to get approvals.

Savannah Grace Essay
October 11 was a picture perfect fall day; it was the first beautiful day I had seen in months it seemed.
After losing my husband, the depression and the thought of raising my little girl alone were too much
to bare. This day however, was bright and promising, this was the day, that I had my beautiful baby
girl, Savannah Grace. Savannah was born 4 weeks early at 34 weeks into my pregnancy. She weighed
5 pounds 7 ounces and was 18 inches long. Savannah s doctors believed that my depression caused
Savannah to be born prematurely (Santrock, 2013). She had and APGAR score of 8 because her
respiration and grimace were low. In normal respiration scores, the baby s breathing would be regular
and they would be crying but Savannah s respiration was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then around a month later at 7 months she said her first word. We were at my mother s house when
she said mama , I have never been so proud in my life. After that, I knew she was going to be talkative
because she was always trying to say new words and talk to me. She was an early walker and took her
first steps around 9 months and was walking on her own around 13 months. Savannah had an easy
temperament; she did, however, show inhibition to the unfamiliar, starting around 8 months, which is
when a child starts to show shyness around strangers or peers (Santrock, 2013). Savannah also
displayed a secure attachment, secure attachment in a recent study was linked to high self esteem and
self confidence (Santrock, 2013). I found that Savannah would often begin to fuss when I left the
room but as soon as I returned she would come over to me and smile at me then continue to play with
her toys (Santrock, 2013). The temperament and attachment have not been linked to any disabilities.
The temperament and attachment seem to make sense because Savannah and I spend a lot of time
together so she is more attached to me and, therefore, feels more secure. In order to help develop a
secure attachment a parent should keep a positive attitude continuously throughout the child s life.
When I am at work Savannah spends her time with her grandmother rather than at daycare. I try to

How Jellyfish Affect The Ecosystem
Jellyfish can be seen in freshwater and saltwater inhabiting everywhere it goes. Some may see
jellyfish depicted in media such as the television show SpongeBob SquarePants as a fun recreational
sport of catching Jellyfish in butterfly nets. Though most may recognize the creatures as your worse
nightmare on a beach and avoiding getting stung by them. However, researchers and explorers have
found effects that jellyfish have on impacting the ecosystem and life style of others. These findings
have shown a divide between the benefits and negative outcomes they have.
Researchers discover an overgrowing size and population in jellyfish. Lindsey Bloomberg, it discusses
how jellyfish are affecting the ecosystem by showing research discussing the 2010 report by the
United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) based on ocean acidification stating there is an
increased jellyfish numbers and changes in fish abundance, which is from pollution, overfishing and
rising carbon dioxide. Due to their low oxygen intake they can survive anywhere from predator free
waters to algae choked expanses. Thicker masses of floating jellyfish will consume large volumes of
fish eggs and larvae, preventing fish populations from rebounding, states Lucas Brotz of the
University of British Columbia Fisheries Center, which shows the population of jellyfish are taking
over an already stressed ecosystem and dominating it even more. To further jellyfish taking over an
ecosystem is discussed by Oren Liebermann

Computer Science Is A Hard Concept Of Grasp Because It...
Introduction:
Computer science is a hard concept to grasp because it involves problem solving and logical thinking.
Along with the concepts, coding issues is one of the greatest trouble students will face. Students have
the Teacher Assist room available for them to use to solve these common problems, but they will
mostly encounter another problem. The TA room for the majority of any given day will be
overcrowded with students; the room s maximum capacity is only 32.
In addition to a crowded help room, when students want to sign up for computer science courses for
next semester, they will find that most of their required courses are full along with the wait list near
max capacity. For the summer 2016 semester, one class, Introduction to Computer Systems, already
reached the maximum number of students registered at 40 students along with 50 students on the wait
list. To add this feat, this class was filled up within the two days registration began.
Over the past five years, the number of students majoring in Computer Science at the University of
Maryland has grown rapidly. Class sizes will be larger leading to poor performances in the computer
science student body. Some of these students will graduate with skill sets directed towards declining
careers. The University of Maryland needs to limit the enrollment of students majoring in Computer
Science.
Background:
There are over 2,000 students currently enrolled in the Computer Science program at the University of

The Virtual And The Real Economic Worlds
1.1 Introduction
The virtual and the real economic worlds are intermingling more than ever before, raising the
possibility that cryptocurrency might eventually replace the government run system of euros, dollars
and yen. Before extensively explaining why Bitcoin, a virtual currency, will have a financial impact,
we must first understand what it is exactly. Bitcoin is an online digital currency, created in 2009 by a
Japanese man with the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto .¹ While many believe this currency is backed
by a physical institution or pegged by a commodity, it is simply a mathematical algorithm free of
regulation that acts as an alternative to the banking system. With digital currency such as Bitcoin,
there is no central bank or government to trust, you ve just got to trust the math. People are losing
faith in traditional credit unions and are looking for new stores of value. CryptoCurrency allows
anybody to have a bank in their pocket. Simply put, the way the internet changed how the world
communicates, bitcoin changes the way money works.
1.2 Forms of Money
Digital currency is going to happen, in fact, it s already happening. Whether it happens now or in 10
years, we will be using digital currencies that don t depend on traditional fiat government. Currently,
in 2014, money is still being issued on paper and in metal coins, but not solely. Most forms of cash
actually exists as database entries backed by the state s promises. I don t know about you, dear reader,

Bronislaw Malinowski s Explanation Of Myths
Myth has for a long time come into question with whether they exist or are just fairy tales. People
nowadays are just to ignorant to ask questions about things they believe in because they choose not to
accept it, did Jesus Christ really die for our sins or was it a myth, is Jesus Christ a myth, who knows.
But there are many ways one could interpret myths, Bronislaw Malinowski, an anthropologist,
believed that myths tell people about the origins of the early world and that it gives them a reality of
how things are to repeat. Malinowski believed that myths weren t kept alive because of interest, or
because they are true tales, but because they give people are a reality of how mankind is to be
determined. Malinowski even gives us an example of a grandmother and granddaughter that realize
that although everyone still has that youth they once were, they have to come to the realization that
everyone gets old and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eliade also believed that through myths we find out where gods come from, and where supernatural
beings come from. Eliade believed myths were true because they answer important questions like why
we die, why we suffer, etc. Out of all three theories the one I agree with the most is Malinowski
theory, because I do agree with him that it does gives us the best understanding of how are lives are
basically determined for us, the example he gave was an eye opening moment that made me think
about myths I ve heard in the past. Eliade and Malinowski theories are almost identical until I read
Eliade believed myths tell us where gods and supernatural beings come from, I myself don t believe
that because I don t think things are as simple as he believes, who knows how things were created and
whether these myths are accurate, more importantly who knows if there really is a god am not leaving
something as important as religion and faith up to myths like

The Anti-Romani Regime
Despite the past forced assimilation processes, the majority of the Roma remained illiterate, as well as
often excluded from various employment opportunities and dependent on petty theft or begging up to
World War II.
These conditions worsened in the Protectorate. Being an ethnic minority and, by national socialist
standards, classed as racially inferior, the Romani people were a clear target and part of the Third
Reich s goal to purge Europe of all impure races .
Hence, anti Romani propaganda and measures, which would finally turn into a genocide, started soon
after the establishment of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia and continued throughout the war.
On November 11th 1940, when approximately 6 540 Czech Roma were living in the Protectorate,

Was the mongol empire a positive or negative impact on the history of Asia? I would say that the
mongol empire was positive, because they did a lot of good for asia like safety for those that are
peaceful and war with those that are not. My first quote is from document #6 The Mongols conquered
nearly all of Asia and achieved what all Inner Asian steppe empires dreamed of . I copied this quote
because this one talked about how the mongols conquered a lot of asia and that means they were all

This document is positive because Genghis Khan controlled 4,860,000 square miles and Alexander the
Great conquered 2,180,000 square miles. This shows that Genghis Khan and his empire was very
powerful. When you rule a very large empire it can be hard to control so the people that rebelled
against Genghis Khan were killed.
Document #2 talks about the people in charge. This document is positive because Genghis Khan had a
very large empire and if someone ran away the person in charge of them would be punished, so
Genghis Khan found a way to maintain a good order for example he would be in charge of maybe ten
people and those ten would be in charge of maybe another ten and so on.
Document #6 talks about people adapting to the Mongol Empire and the benefits of the silk industry.
The Mongols did a lot for china for example their silk, the people of china liked silk but the problem
was that the deliverers kept getting murdered and the silk stolen so the mongols lent a hand and
created the Silk Road where people could walk without any thought about thieves or murderers
coming for what they have because they feared Genghis Khan. Genghis Khan killed the people that
stole or murdered on the silk road and their families, in other words if you saw something someone

A Study On New Orleans Essay 32 | spring 2016 get involved www. kappa.org | 33 For more than two centuries, coffee has been a fundamental part of the culinary and social culture of New Orleans. It s not just the city s penchant for chicory café au lait served alongside warm beignets. Nor is it just landmark gathering spots like Café du Monde and or Morning Call Coffee Stand that spawned the notion of the laborers coffee break and served locals and tourists for generations. And it isn t solely boozy Café Brulôt, the brandy spiked coffee drink New Orleans families serve in slender china cups that makes New Orleans a true coffee town. Alongside these the gustatory expressions is the city s historic and longstanding role in the coffee trade. New Orleans has been a significant coffee port for more than 200 years. Since the early 19th century, import companies have brought in green coffee beans from around the world through the Port of New Orleans. Today, it is the second largest coffee port in the country. • 3. The Beginning Of Civilizations On Education The world we live in today is a very good example of a dystopia. Problems have riddled our societies from race fighting, to bigotry, and even mocking people for choices about their bodies or genders. There are many choices that have led to both the causes and the effects of what we live in now. Many people are discussing how to turn our current situations around, this is how I will accomplish these goals in my utopia. The beginning of civilizations starts on education, as future generations are taught the ideals and beliefs of a society; this leads me to take the same exact step in implementing my strategy. Basic education will be very similar to the current American system through high school. Education will start with a strict adherence and following of my former credo. Continued education through college will be payed for, but only for the most intelligent of the populace. The less intelligent will be allowed to attend trade schools, or apprenticeships in any type of labor job. Outside learning on one s own time is highly encouraged to continue to grow overall as a person, which also elevates a person religiously. Not only for that reason but also to be able to get into college if they don t want to have to go to technical school, or if they want to achieve a high position in the military. Jamie Finchbaugh of Industryweek.com states Reducing lead time isn t about capacity. The amount of work that can get done is usually still the amount of work that can get done. What lead time does is deliver the request sooner to whomever needs something done. The benefits from reducing lead times are the edge in the marketplace. This new system was the main reason of creation of many battle ships. As Mahan contended, there was supposed to be sufficient battleships for the protection of three waters surrounding the country, after that, it was time to spread the sea power to all around the world by bringing together the land forces with maritime foces. In other words, Mahan created the idea of having soldiers ready for the interest of the nation all around the world, which is still being used by the Navy and Marine corps. And finally, in the writing, it is criticized that the new ideas of Mahan caused problems in the organization of the Navy, which later caused the Navy to have structural changes. The Chemistry Of Natural Waters Emily Schwarz 12 November 2014 The Chemistry of Natural Waters Section: 106 Group Members: Shaily Shah, James Shank, Aaron Selnick TA: Natalie Petrillo Introduction: Hard water is a term used to refer to water which has high concentrations of magnesium, calcium, and iron ions. (Lerner, 2014) In this experiment, concentrations of magnesium and calcium ions were the main focus. Water hardness is an important factor to consider because it has a great effect on the everyday lives of people around the world. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Molar concentration is simply the number of moles of ions per liter of water. Parts per million is a ratio of weights, and for every one part per million, there is 1 pound of solute for every million pounds per liter. (Hardness) EDTA titration, as well as AA (atomic absorption spectrophotometry) are two main ways in which water hardness is measured. EDTA is performed by adjusting the pH of the water with the use of a buffer, then adding an indicator to the solution, which will turn red if calcium ions are present. If only magnesium is present in the solution, it will remain blue. Then an EDTA solution is added to the solution. The complete reaction of all calcium and magnesium ions with the EDTA solution is represented by the change in color of the solution from red to blue. (Thomson, 2014)AA, or atomic absorption spectrophotometry, is performed by turning the water into an aerosol, which is then burned, and the internal computer system of the machine uses the absorbance of light to provide a number which corresponds to the concentration of ions in the water sample. (The Royal Society of Chemistry Fine Chemicals and Medicinals Group). It is important to use more than one method to measure water hardness, especially a method which relies mainly on the use of technology, to lower the possibilities for human error, as well as to provide multiple values of hardness for comparison. • 14. The Films Of Federico Fellini Analysis Bondanella, P. (2002). The Films of Federico Fellini. Cambridge, UK: Cambridge University Press. The Films of Federico Fellini examines the career and work of Italy s most revered filmmakers. By analyzing the masterpieces of Fellini, the book attempts to categorize the influence of his work, and explain some of his interests in fantasy, the irrational, and individualism. Bondanella essentially rejects more common ways of analyzing Fellini s work and favors trying to explore the development of his unique and personal cinematic style. Bondanella highlights some of the major accomplishments in the life of the renowned Italian filmmaker. One of the most striking features of Bondanella work is his ability to tell the story of Fellini by using the works of the filmmaker. In particular, Bondanella is able to draw on a new archive of manuscripts, obtained from Fellini and his scriptwriters. This level of in depth analysis allows researchers to get a detailed view of Fellini s work that has inspired generations of not only Italian filmmakers, but also in the rest of the world. The author suggests that Fellini s use of realism in film allows the audience to connect on a whole another level of intimacy with the characters in the film, allowing for better characterization in his cinema. It was 2:00 am cold Saturday morning on January 2nd, and we were on a bus heading to Chicago airport. I was going on a Carnival Cruise for 7 days with my boyfriend s family. On the way to the Chicago airport we all took a huge bus with rows of bench seats that picked us up from Dubuque then took us to the airport. • 17. Stylistic Prose Techniques In Cry, The Beloved Country By... Stylistic prose technique 1: IMAGERY Authors who use imagery wish to give the readers a physical feeling of literature while reading any sort of piece. It allows for the audience to connect to the characters on a deeper level by having them experience the same feelings, smells, noises, etc, as did the roles in the novel. Alan Paton uses a strong voice packed with imagery in his passage, For they grow red and bare; they cannot hold the rain and mist, and the streams are dry in the kloofs. Too many cattle feed upon the grass, and too many fires have burned it. Stand shod upon it, for it is coarse and sharp, and the stones cut under the feet. It is not kept or guarded, or cared for, it no longer keeps men, guards men, cares for men (Paton, 34). The overwhelming senses of touch and vision are more than prevalent in this brief passage, with Paton perfectly conveying the atmosphere of rural South Africa in the 1940 s. The reader gets a catholic impression of the arid climate as well as the deteriorated lands on which it rests. By including this in his novel, Alan Paton establishes a thorough setting, one of which the reader can fully understand for the remaining duration of Cry, The Beloved Country. Stylistic prose technique 2: DRAMATIC IRONY In short, dramatic irony is in any given literary scenario when future actions can be accurately anticipated by the readers but not the characters. It often includes cliches and is used by authors wishing to give their audience insight that their characters do not yet have. Powerful dramatic irony is demonstrated in the scene: Shall I get your ticket for you, umfundisi? Then you need not lose your place in the line while I go to the ticket office... As though he has suddenly though of something he left the line, and walked to the corner, but there was no sign of the young man... Where is the ticket office my friend? You get your ticket on the bus. There is no ticket office (Paton, 49). Alan Paton is able to show how vulnerable and naïve Stephen Kumalo is to the big city; using something so predictable as a sly, nevertheless, predictable con artist, he shows how foreign lies and deceit are to the pastor. The Island Of Dr. Moreau Throughout time ethically controversial sciences, from vivisection to stem cell research, have embodied a negative stereotype in the eyes of western societies, and have consequently withdrawn the freedom that allows scientists to make innovative discoveries. In H.G. Wells novel The Island of Doctor Moreau, this perspective is portrayed through Edward Prendick, an upper class English gentleman with a subtle passion for science. After being stranded on a remote pacific island isolated from civilization, Prendick s perspective on Dr. Moreau s unethical and controversial studies begins to transform over time. The idea that isolation from civilization can result in the freedom to explore one s curiosity is portrayed through Prendick s initial unacceptance of Moreau s vivisection, which, as time on the island elapses, reshapes to one of interest. In The Island of Doctor Moreau, as Edward Prendick spends more time away from civilized society, his perspective regarding Dr. Moreau s ethically controversial discipline, vivisection, begins to shift from a sense of repugnance to one of enthusiasm. Through these perspectives, H.G. Wells argues that Prendick s isolation from civilization is the principle force allowing him to freely embrace the unethical studies on the island and explore his natural curiosity for science, whereas the consequences from negative stereotypes surrounding controversial science would discourage this curiosity in a civilized society. Initially, since Prendick ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

America was built on the simple principles brought by our founding fathers, liberty and justice for all. What makes this country great is the people that work hard every day with the liberties granted to them. Our great people need a great leader to protect their liberties in order for them to prosper. It is, without a doubt, true that America and the American people are great. However, I can t put the leaders that lead this great country in the same category. Some may see jellyfish depicted in media such as the television show SpongeBob SquarePants as a fun recreational sport of catching Jellyfish in butterfly nets. Though most may recognize the creatures as your worse nightmare on a beach and avoiding getting stung by them. These findings have shown a divide between the benefits and negative outcomes they have. Researchers discover an overgrowing size and population in jellyfish. Lindsey Bloomberg, it discusses how jellyfish are affecting the ecosystem by showing research discussing the 2010 report by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) based on ocean acidification stating there is an increased jellyfish numbers and changes in fish abundance, which is from pollution, overfishing and rising carbon dioxide. Due to their low oxygen intake they can survive anywhere from predator free waters to algae choked expanses. Thicker masses of floating jellyfish will consume large volumes of fish eggs and larvae, preventing fish populations from rebounding, states Lucas Brotz of the University of British Columbia Fisheries Center, which shows the population of jellyfish are taking over an already stressed ecosystem and dominating it even more. Along with the concepts, coding issues is one of the greatest trouble students will face. Students have the Teacher Assist room available for them to use to solve these common problems, but they will mostly encounter another problem. The TA room for the majority of any given day will be overcrowded with students; the room s maximum capacity is only 32. In addition to a crowded help room, when students want to sign up for computer science courses for next semester, they will find that most of their required courses are full along with the wait list near max capacity. For the summer 2016 semester, one class, Introduction to Computer Systems, already reached the maximum number of students registered at 40 students along with 50 students on the wait list. To add this feat, this class was filled up within the two days registration began. Over the past five years, the number of students majoring in Computer Science at the University of Maryland has grown rapidly. Class sizes will be larger leading to poor performances in the computer science student body. Some of these students will graduate with skill sets directed towards declining careers. • 31. The Virtual And The Real Economic Worlds 1.1 Introduction The virtual and the real economic worlds are intermingling more than ever before, raising the possibility that cryptocurrency might eventually replace the government run system of euros, dollars and yen. Before extensively explaining why Bitcoin, a virtual currency, will have a financial impact, we must first understand what it is exactly. Bitcoin is an online digital currency, created in 2009 by a Japanese man with the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto .¹ While many believe this currency is backed by a physical institution or pegged by a commodity, it is simply a mathematical algorithm free of regulation that acts as an alternative to the banking system. With digital currency such as Bitcoin, there is no central bank or government to trust, you ve just got to trust the math. People are losing faith in traditional credit unions and are looking for new stores of value. CryptoCurrency allows anybody to have a bank in their pocket. Simply put, the way the internet changed how the world communicates, bitcoin changes the way money works. 1.2 Forms of Money Digital currency is going to happen, in fact, it s already happening. Whether it happens now or in 10 years, we will be using digital currencies that don t depend on traditional fiat government. Currently, in 2014, money is still being issued on paper and in metal coins, but not solely. Most forms of cash actually exists as database entries backed by the state s promises. People nowadays are just to ignorant to ask questions about things they believe in because they choose not to accept it, did Jesus Christ really die for our sins or was it a myth, is Jesus Christ a myth, who knows. But there are many ways one could interpret myths, Bronislaw Malinowski, an anthropologist, believed that myths tell people about the origins of the early world and that it gives them a reality of how things are to repeat. Malinowski believed that myths weren t kept alive because of interest, or because they are true tales, but because they give people are a reality of how mankind is to be determined. Eliade and Malinowski theories are almost identical until I read Eliade believed myths tell us where gods and supernatural beings come from, I myself don t believe that because I don t think things are as simple as he believes, who knows how things were created and whether these myths are accurate, more importantly who knows if there really is a god am not leaving something as important as religion and faith up to myths like ...
