INTRODUCTION
Human is one of the most powerful creatures of the universe. To learn more and strive for the best
is always the priority of human. We are now heading towards the most technical era of all times.
Recent inventions of some smart tools and gadgets have made us dependent to technology. We
while using the tools are now becoming tools ourselves. Today technology is growing so fast and
this rapid development in the Artificial Intelligence, Nanotechnology and Robotics is now proving
as a threat to humanity. The smart tools have made the life of humans more stressful and
depressive. At the same way there are some amazing benefits of technology to the humans in every
aspect of life.
This research has been done in order to know the influence of technology on humans. To know, is
technology the reason behind making our professional lives more stressful and depressed? Also,
the impact of technology on the people of Oman will be evaluated in this research.
LITERATURE REVIEW
Paul Armstrong discussed the present condition of humans and the technology globaly, in an
interview on technology versus humans. According to him, development in the technology is
exponentially increasing beyond the limits and soon there will be some robots and gadget who will
be like humans. More he said, at that time humans must decide if they want to merge with the
machines or not (Frobes, 2016). That is one of the most alarming situations for humans. Later on he
claimed that the clouds we are using today are basically the brain extenders. There will be wearable
brain extenders in the future and humans will not imagine being without these extenders. Similarly,
in five more years voice control will be in trend and typing will be outdated by the speaking tools.
Some brain compatible computers are waiting to be in trend within the human environment
(Armstrong, 2017).
The emerging interest in games, social media website and chatrooms has lessened the physical
interact of human that is one of the most important reason that we do not how badly the technology
is affecting our lives. Similarly, the new innovative applications like Siri and Alexa has changed
the way to live life. People are going more towards technology. According to recent studies, about
6% of Americans will lose their jobs due to robots in 2021. Similarly, 35% of jobs in the UK will
be eliminated due to Artificial Intelligence by 10 to 20 years (Cutover.com, 2019). But according
to many, there are more jobs openings now due to the technology and human can regain their roles
by focusing from now own. There are always humans who are behind these robots and AI systems.
In (Abuiyada, n.d.) author discussed the internet effects on the family members of Oman. The
conclusion was based on both the negative and positive effects of the internet on a family. The
Internet has positive effects on the family but at the same time, it has to implant never-ending
3
negativity on the people, their behavior and their religion. Many people claimed that the internet
is used to excess unethical and harmful sites.
In 2017 a survey conducted in Oman on the topic disruptive technology creates more jobs then it
destroys in the energy industry over the next decade. 66% of people agree with the statement while
only 34% of people disagree with it. That depicts that according to the people there is much more
space for humans in the workforce than that of robots. In the Gulf Intelligence Survey eve of Oman,
they came to result that while talking about the middle east the technology will be able to create
more jobs in the next 10 years. About 200 stakeholders of oil and gas were gathered in Masqat
including Occidental of Oman and Shell, Petroleum Development Oman and Development Oman
to identify and create the strategies to avail the emerging disrupting energy technologies (Oman
Observer, 2017).
