ROLES AND FUNCTIONS
OF EDUCATIONAL
TECHNOLOGY INTHE
21ST CENTURY

The role of technology in the
classroom is ever changing.
Those who utilize and embrace
the use of technology in the
classroom are better prepared to
serve the next generation of
learners.
INSTRUCTION SHOULD BE
STUDENT-CENTERED
This type of learning is strongly
encouraged in the 21st century .This
does not mean that the teacher can’t
give lectures again.They can give
lectures but not for the whole time of
the class.They must act as the
facilitators for this kind of learning.
EDUCATION SHOULD BE
COLLABORATIVE
Students must learn how to cooperate with
others.Society today has people collaborating
across the globe. In this, students must work
with each other to express theirselves in a right
way with people with different values and
cultures.
Collaboration must also be dynamic so that
students can recognize different strengths and
talents each person can give and share.
LEARNING SHOULD HAVE
CONTEXT
Student-centered does not mean
that the teachers give up control of
the classoom. Students are
encouraged to discover theirselves
and so the teachers must guide them
in order to have a right ideas as they
make their own learnings.
Role of Technology in 21st
Century:
 1.Technology allows for 24/7 access
to information
 2. Constant interaction; and
 3. Easily created and shared digital
content.
