The Gaia City 288.000 inhabitants (Census of 2001) hometown of the Port Wine cellars near Porto (on the other side of the Douro river, 263.000 inhabitants) Also, the place for the F.C. Porto (training centre)!
Digital city concept A city being transformed or organised using information and communication technology A representation or virtual image of a particular set of issues from a city

Digital citizen concept Interaction based, bringing citizenship relations to the digital Connect the real  with the virtual Need for technology that supports different types of urban information to become usable for people
Location services Explore the use of information based on such technologies as CRM, GIS, Internet, wireless,  GPS and mobile  devices Service or application that eases the use of spatial information and GIS facilities for end users
Gaia Global project Based on society and their digital interaction This approach is used instead of a local government centred initiative Based on people and not technology The added value from a city is ultimetly its own people and their potential to interact and create information Based on provide support for the information life cycle create – produce – reuse – discard – destroy Content oriented and to support tasks, instead to process oriented
Gaia Global project options Take a multichannel strategy Beyond the use of the Internet and World Wide Web, consider even traditions media as books and outdoors Territory Based The aim is to provide the city with a new digital centrer and associated competences  Inclusion and citizenship Seeks the inclusion of Gaia inhabitants and fosters citizenship, by creating new digital markets

From Digital Gaia to Gaia Global
The Gaia Global brand The logo represents an individual and how the importance that people has to the project. The logo head denotes movement and proactivity, with the arms rised for ideas and action. Its name is..  Kimkas Gaiato In a open and colaborative society we have several Kimkas! Each one skills to work with others and to colaborate open the way to new interactions and helps create a dinamic environment. Gaia Global  its a name that is best suit to the project strategy to follow a multichannel and no technology path to the use of the digital. The project wants people to use services and applications and not computers and digital machinery
One brand, one image
The project Web site provide an information base that can be accessed by  - everyone - the media and project team  (these, with restricted access) The goal is to provide a  project descriptive memory  and manage the information produced by Gaia Global Everything from the project will eventually be published one day!  This site  IS NOT  the Gaia Global project www.gaiaglobal.pt

The digital is all about brands and the abillity to explore them Need to provide day to day activities to the citizen and to explore the territory
provide technology, but just when needed and integrated with the individual and where its value is perceived
