Sequence Idea
Genre and Themes
• Tragedy- about a terminally ill teenager who wants to fulfil his final
wishes
• He writes a bucket list in the opening to show what will later happen
in the film.
Name Ideas
• Full Time
• Times Up
• The Bucket List
Age Certificate and Audience
• Film may be distressing as it contains illness and death. We want to
target a demographic aged between (12-18)
• Therefore, we will rate it a 12A to include the younger members of
the audience
• Secondary Audience will be young adults (19-21) or Parents watching
with the younger target demographic
Location We will use the protagonists bedroom as the main
location for the opening scene
The scene may continue outside the house when he
walks to school but only for a short period
The narrative will be revealed by items in the room eg
Posters, trophies, Calenders containing dates, the
bucket list
Characters
Protagonist (yet to decide a name)- the camera will follow
him throughout the opening and will start in his room. (Hero
following Propp)
Older sibling/parent- wake up the protagonist, ideally a adult
but this may be hard for us to find someone suitable to play
the role (Dispatcher following Propp)
Friend- protagonist will walk to school with them. Will share
a very similar social group which will be shown through
costume (Helper/Donor following Propp)
Clothing stereotypical of teenage boys and the characters
social groups
Likely to be sportswear or school uniform. Bandana used to
symbolise illness
Parent will similarly wear clothing suitable for them. Eg
workwear, suit etc
Bedroom will contain lot’s of technology to represent him as a
teenager
Fashion and Representation
Typography
Two possible types of font we are considering
Eroded/distorted- suggests equilibrium will be disturbed and
danger for title
Handwritten - a more personal feel, links to his age and illness
Basic Font- needed to show institutional information
Narrative
Terminally ill character who doesn't have long to live.
He is only a teenager.
Items like tablets shown to imply he is ill and in pain
Calendar will he is having an operation
Writing his bucket list
Enigma Code- mystery of how ill the protagonist is
and whether he will live beyond the operation or fulfill
his bucket list
Voiceover will describe what’s happening (dates and
illness etc)
Similar to almost famous opening
Institution
Minor production company like Film4 is
needed as a member of the 'big six' would not
fit the genre
Studio Canal is the distributor for several film4
productions so it will look realistic
Binary Opposition
Life vs Death
Parent vs Child
