Identifying subjects and complements
• The subject is what the sentence is about.
A noun can be a subjective complement.
A PREDICATE NOUN renames the subject.
It refers to the same person, place, thing, or idea.
A predicate noun follows a linking verb
such as the forms of be:
(am, is, are, was, were, be, being, been).
Remember:
Mount Rushmore is a sculpture carved into a mountain.
