What is WYP?
• BYP: Since 2006.
• WYP: Since 2014
• Our mission: Wilkinsburg Youth Project is a youth employment program
that seeks to foster skills that will aid youth in advancing toward positive
life outcomes, by providing meaningful and sustainable community
development projects, generated and maintained by the youth. We seek to
harness the energy and creativity of youth to promote positive, culturally
relevant change in their community.

• These Workshops Focus Primarily on the Skills
WYP School Year Schedule
• Monday – Friday, 3:30 – 5:30 pm.
• Optional Homework Time from 5:45 – 6:30 pm.
• November – Early May
• Teams:
• Kelly Primary Mentoring
• Community Forge Mentoring
• Media Team
Why Workshops?
• You have busy schedules
• Some of you go to school very far away
• A way to convey information without the time commitment.
• At any point you can decide to sign up for the after-school program.
• Sign up for the Summer Program and Fully Take Part!
Pay Structure
• You will be paid $8.25 an hour for the after school program as well as
the workshops.
• Each workshop: $16.50 before tax.
• WYP After-School: $66 weekly before tax.
• WYP After-School includes a $100 bonus divided over four paychecks.
• First paycheck is December 11. Second workshop paycheck is
12/25*. Third workshop paycheck is 1/8.
The Expectations
• Arrive on time / Call if you will be late
• Be focused and attentive / Don’t use your cell phone
• Be prepared for Workshop Activities (Don’t wear open-toe shoes in the kitchen)
• Work Hard
• Clean up after yourself. Use equipment appropriately.
• Be Respectful & Positive.
• No Horseplay
• No verbal or sexual harassment
• Don’t show up drunk or high
• Behave safely while here. Don’t vandalize property.
• Do not lie or steal
• Do not fight.
• Do not bring weapons, drugs or alcohol to work.
