India is located in northern hemisphere between latitudes 8 and 37 degrees north and longitudes 68 and 97 degrees east. The Tropic of Cancer divides the country into two equal parts. India uses the 82.5 degree east meridian passing through Allahabad as the standard time despite spanning multiple time zones. India has a total land area of 3.28 million square kilometers, making it the 7th largest country by area with over 15,000 kilometers of coastline. It shares land borders with Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar and Bangladesh and is located in central Asia between East and West Asia.
