- 2. What is a music magazine? A music magazine is a genre of music portrayed at a target audience liking that music genre. Articles and topics feature information. It focuses on artists and events that focus upon this genre of music ,and the lifestyles of people who listen to this music also.
- 3. What context (text/copy/writing/articles/stories) would you expect to find in a music magazine It usually features interviews and a look into a certain band/artists lifestyle or history. Topics often feature such as ‘How the band was made’. A main focus such as ‘exclusive interview’ will be with the artist of the front cover with small interviews or articles on others. New information such as reviews and promotions of new music within the genre are highlighted. Giveaway’s usually promote the audience for example a ‘signed CD’. Also events promoted ,such as concerts educate the audience.
- 4. What images would you expect to find in a music magazine Usually one main image of a artist or band is presented on the front always relating to the music genre. In all genres pictures are carefully thought out as they must portray the artist in a glamorous lifestyle. Even natural concert shots that are regularly used are carefully though of and edited. More pictures of the artists on the front cover are usually seen inside ,sometimes playing around with band members or relating to the article ,typically a more friendly shot.
- 5. Identify general characteristics/ Features that you would expect to find in all music magazines Overall, every time the magazine always focus upon one main artist to represent the front cover. Rule of thirds is always used through all magazine genres complying with convention. Finally, the style of typography relates to the genre of music. A clear example of this is the popular Kerrang rock magazine. The masthead text looking bold and hard with a distressed look featuring the rugged and bold idea of the rock music genre.
