Adding integers follows two rules: numbers with the same sign are added and keep the sign, numbers with different signs are subtracted and take the sign of the number with the higher absolute value. Subtracting integers has one rule - rewrite the problem as an addition problem by changing the subtraction sign to a negative sign. Multiplying and dividing integers results in a positive answer if the numbers have the same sign and a negative answer if the numbers have different signs.
