Whilst traditional endpoints are protected by default, it is important to recognise that IoT devices often operate in more open, hostile and unprotected environments, so the need for security is paramount. If a laptop gets infected it may ruin somebody days - if a critical device is hacked it may ruin much more. Similarly, its important to protect instances running in the cloud. Since there is minimal protection offered by AWS, systems running within AWS are increasingly targeted by hackers, and are vulnerable to all of the same type of attacks as traditional endpoints. The graphic above highlights that both IoT devices and Amazon instances can be protected by Intel Security, and significantly, maintained using a single management system.
