- 4. DSVP - Staff DSVP is fortunate to have a committed, smart and enthusiastic staff! Stacy Caldwell, Executive Director Stacy is an expert in the field of social entrepreneurship and modern philanthropy. Her challenging role is to provide the guidance and leadership for all of the Type A’s in DSVP, to ensuring that DSVP remains true to its mission. Sari Raskin – Engagement Manager Sari matches the talents of the Partnership with the needs of the Investees, ensuring that Partners are on-boarded effectively and can make an impact as quickly as they desire….. All that, on a part-time basis! Meghan Hale – Administrative Assistant Meghan’s background in communications is the key to her success in managing the DSVP Office. She is instrumental in coordinating events, communications, grant administration, and all things DSVP! DSVP Development Committee Committee Purpose: Provide increased grant dollars to our portfolio investees through the presentation of co-investment opportunities to other funders and secure additional funds required to operate DSVP Bob Wright is the Chair of the Development Committee. Committee outcomes are as follows: Sufficient non-dues revenue to meet or exceed budgetary goals Bi-monthly strategy and progress-tracking meetings to maximize and normalize revenues throughout the year Effective refinement and honest appraisal of co-investment ask – pitch, listen, adjust Top 3 Goals for 2009 : Raise $30,000 in direct grants to DSVP Raise $115,000 in co-investment grants for the benefit of our portfolio investees Raise $75,000 in contributions to our endowment Frequency of Meetings: Every other month in the last week of that month Bob Wright Development Committee Chair 2009 Founding Partner Occupation: General Counsel Company : BakBone Software, Inc. DSVP Portfolio Review Committee DSVP ‘s PRC consists of is 8 – 10 partners who manage the Portfolio Lifecycle including: measure investee progress toward objectives serve as a resource to lead partners review and recommend re-funding requests John Palter is the Chair of the Portfolio Review Committee. - 11. Communications Committee To manage effective internal and external communications that drive the mission and success of DSVP Ruth Fitzgibbons is the Chair of the Communications Committee. Committee scope for 2009: • Engage in branding process to create conviction around a singular DSVP brand platform (Q1) Examine current communications processes and plans through new brand filter Recommend revised/new communications strategies (internal and external) if needed Top 3 Goals for 2009 : Generate excitement and conviction around DSVP brand Use momentum to re-fuel marketing/development strategies Raise DSVP’s profile in area philanthropic community Frequency of Meetings: TBD Ruth Fitzgibbons Communications Committee Chair 2009 Partner since 2008 Principal Richards Partners Dallas, TX “ Engaged philanthropy is a magnificent, timely idea that is still waiting to catch fire. DSVP Membership Committee DSVP ‘s Membership Committee is responsible for bringing new Partners into DSVP, helping to educate prospective partners, supporting the on-boarding process of new partners, and spreading the word about this fabulous organization ! Trude Van Horn & Mark Frederiksen are Co-Chairs of the Membership Committee. Along with Stacy Caldwell, Sari Raskin and others, the Membership Team is constantly working on an ever changing list of prospects, new partners and welcoming activities! - 13. DSVP Finance Committee Committee Purpose: Oversee the preparation of the annual budget and monitor performance against that budget. Assist in the IT decisions and other related projects as required George Ellis is the Chair of the Finance Committee Committee outcomes are as follows: Board approved annual budget in place at the beginning of each year Quarterly reviews and updates to the board Annual internal control and systems assessment Top 3 Goals for 2009 : End the year with 9 months of working capital Formalize the investment arc in support of the PRC and Invest Committee Simplify financial reporting to the board Frequency of Meetings : 5 to 6 times each year. The second month of each quarter and two additional in support of the annual budget. DSVP Engagement – A Year at A Glance Winter New Investee Orientation and Annual Engagement Plan New Investee introduced to DSVP and to new Lead Partners Engagement strategy mapped out with Lead Partners and Investee leadership Spring Full Engagement with Investees Lead Partners engage and monitor progress with Investees. DSVP Partners offer assistance, based on areas of expertise, interest, and availability DSVP Portfolio Review Committee reviews and monitors engagement with the active Investees with one-on-one meetings and/or site visits. Fall Portfolio Assessment and Additions The Portfolio Review Committee reviews refunding proposals and makes recommendations are made in November to the DSVP Board for final approval. The Investment Committee convenes to review new investments by reviewing Letters of Intent, assessing finalists, participating on site visits and recommending a final decision to the DSVP Board of Directors for final approval. The new Investee is announced at the DSVP holiday party.
