This document summarizes research on the representation of international news in local media platforms in Leeds, England. The researchers analyzed print, radio, television, and online media over a sample week. They found that traditional print media had the most coverage of international news, with an average of 9 stories per day. In contrast, radio coverage of international news was very low, with only 6 stories identified across Radio Aire bulletins over the sample week. Online media platforms also provided limited international news coverage. The researchers concluded that more modern media like radio and online prioritize local content over international news due to factors like news values, costs, and the fast-paced nature of the media landscape.
