The Camera Shot types and Movement
use of the camera Different types of shots are used in combination to give you information about where and when something is happening, the role of a character or their reactions, to draw attention to something or to create an impression or feeling. What are the names of some shots that you already know?
Long Shot Long Shot (LS) This is a shot that shows a person from the top of their head to their feet Why is this shot used?
Medium Shot Medium Shot (MS) THis is a shot that show a person from the waist up.  Often there can be more than one person in the shot (two Shot) For what reason would you use this shot?
Close up Close Up (CU) THis is a shot that shows a person face from about the shoulders up Why would you use a close up?
High Angle Shot This is where the camera is placed above the object, looking down on the subject.  What is the effect of this shot?
Low Angle Shot THis is where the camera is placed below the object, looking up at it.  What is the effect of this type shot?
Watching So when you look at a shot consider: What is the shot type? What is the camera drawing our attention to? How does the shot type do this? What is the effect on the audience?
Activity View the Godzilla Trailer  What shots can you identify and why has they been used (at least five shots) What is the effect on the audience?
