Education institution exist not only to provide economically useful skills in numeracy and literacy, but also to produce civilized young men and women who would appreciate the arts and culture. Students will learn about different professions, ideas and opportunities when they travel outside their own neighborhoods. A field trip can awaken the desire in a person to try new things and pursue previously unconsidered dreams. It can introduce students to job opportunities and can spark new interests and passions. This field trip to Melaka will be part of Introduction to Design and Culture & Civilization Module. The Bandar Melaka tour will be part of the Culture & Civilization assignments where by the students will be exposed to rich culture, arts and architecture. The student’s visit will be enhanced with a talk by conservator and architect Ar Debbie Lee about Melaka, its heritage and conservation efforts. On the second and third day, students will be located by the beach at Tanjung Bidara Beach Resort where they will endure jungle tracking, experiencing nature and a small sketching workshop. Their task is to sketch “elements of design” in nature as part of the Introduction to Design assignment. This is after all THE FOUNDATION OF NATURAL AND BUILD ENVIRONMENT.
