How to Create A Resume
Tips to Remember Only include relevant work information unless your only work experience is outside of the field. Keep your resume to one page. Unless you have extensive relevant work experience, employers tend to prefer one page. If you have a unisex name (e.g Pat) please make sure they know what gender you are by putting “Mr. Pat Robinson”
Tips - Continued Do NOT use caps in your resume; they make it look like you are shouting. Have a clear and logical organization to the information presented in your resume. When doing things in chronological order, list from most recent to oldest.
Tips - continued Do not use fancy parchment paper or colored paper. It makes your resume look pretentious and it distracts potential employers. Always have your objective stated on the resume. Send in your resume accompanied by a cover letter.
Style We have three types of resumes; contemporary, elegant and professional. Please choose the style that best fits your personality, or the one to which you believe your perspective employers will respond.
Making it easy in Word Microsoft Word provides tools and options to make creating a resume simple and successful. Decide whether you want to use a template, a wizard, or create one from scratch! Most people think wizards and templates are easier than crafting a resume from scratch in Word.
Now let’s start making YOUR resume!!
