CONTROLLER (PFC):
 PFC (power factor
correction) also known as
power factor controller) is
a feature included in some
computer and other
power supply boxes that
reduces the amount of
reactive power generated
by a computer. Reactive
power operates at right
angles to true power and

Water level
controller:
 In many homes and

ground water is used,
which is pumped up to
overhead tanks using
water pumps which are
controlled by electric
motors. Controlling the
pumps is often a
necessity to avoid

Fuse

 Over load relay is for
the protection of motor
from the over load. It
senses the load current
and trips if it exceeds
the limit. Current limit
has to be set manually.
It should be 80% of the
full load current.
Current Transformer:
 A current transformer
(CT) is a type of
transformer that is
used to measure AC
Current. It produces an
alternating current
(AC) in its secondary
which is proportional to
the AC current in its
primary. ... Current
transformers have very
little effect on the
primary circuit.
Cable Lug:
 Cable lugs, also referred
to as Cable terminal
ends or cable shoes are
electrical supplies
utilized to securely
connect or terminate
cables to electrical
devices, power or
control panels, junction
boxes, equipments and
machineries. These lugs
are often used to join
power cables together as
well.
 What is the main function of MCCB?
Trip Unit: The Trip Unit is the brain of the circuit breaker. The function of the trip unit
is to trip the operating mechanism in the event of a short circuit or a prolonged
overload of current. Traditional molded case circuit breakers use electromechanical
trip units.
 What is a cable lug?
Cable lugs, also referred to as Cable terminal ends or cable shoes are electrical
supplies utilized to securely connect or terminate cables to electrical devices, power or
control panels, junction boxes, equipments and machineries. These lugs are often used
to join power cables together as well.
 What are cable lugs made of?
Sheet metal terminals are also made from electrolytic copper according to EN
13600. But there is a difference in the basic material. While compression
standard tubular cable lugs are produced from copper tubes, terminals are
made from copper sheets.
 What is Bus Bar?
Bus bar is Aluminium or copper flat/strip installed inside any panel for carrying
current. Incomming supply comming into the panel through incomer
(VCB/ACB/MCCB/MCB/Isolator)and connected to this busbar. To this busbar
all out going feeders are connected via breaker.
 Where are busbars used?
Busbar systems are used to safely implement three-phase power distribution systems,
often in large environments. Busbars are found in factories, data centers, retail
facilities, laboratories, hospitals, and university or technology settings.
 What is the difference between Rccb and Elcb?
ELCB and RCCB : ELCB is the old name and often refers to voltage operated devices
that are no longer available and it is advised you replace them if you find one. RCCB
or RCD is the new name that specifies current operated (hence the new name to
distinguish from voltage operated).
 What is the difference between MCB & MCCB where it can be used?
MCB is a miniature circuit breaker which is used to break small currents. Like in
domestic LT circuits. The ratings usually end up to 100 A. MCCB is a Module case
circuit breaker which has a rugged construction as it can break larger currents
usually from (100-1000A).
 How do earth leakage circuit breakers work?
An Earth-leakage circuit breaker (ELCB) is a safety device used in electrical
installations with high Earth impedance to prevent shock. It detects small stray
voltages on the metal enclosures of electrical equipment, and interrupts the
circuit if a dangerous voltage is detected.
 What is meant by air circuit breaker?
Air Circuit Breaker is a device used to provide Overcurrent and Short Circuit
Protection for circuits ranging from 800 Amps to 10000 Amps. One should not
be confused between Air Circuit Breaker and Air Blast Circuit Breaker. Air
Circuit Breakers are usually used in low voltage applications below 450 volts.
 What is PLC?
A PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLER (PLC) is an industrial computer
