Broadway Bound Children’s TheatreThe Power of TheatreTo Make a Difference
Broadway Bound Children’s TheatreOur South Seattle Outreach Program
Our VisionChildren and teens developing core life values through the tradition, process and discipline of live musical theatre
Our MissionTo create exceptional theatrical productions that awakenthe very best in children and teens
Our Formula for SuccessYouth Arts EducationStudies demonstrate that a strong correlation exists betweenacademic success and participation in the artsA recent report by the Center for Arts Education found that schools with the highest graduation rates also offered students the most access to arts education
DREAMGIRLSIn 2007, Broadway Bound reached out to the Rainier Beach community and opened a long dormant Paul Robeson Performing Arts Center with a production of DREAMGIRLSStudents who participated onstage and offstage were introduced to the theatre arts and mentored by a team of highly trained Professionals
Broadway Bound returned in the summer of 2008 and mounted an equally successful production of FAMEIn addition to the theatre arts, students were given instruction in such areas as time management, nutrition, exercise, responsibility and teamworkFAME
Financial SupportBroadway Bound provides tuition scholarships for teens with demonstrated financial need. Families with low economic status often depend on teens earning supplemental income during the summer, so modest stipends are provided to student actors and stagecraft workers Eliminating this barrier allows teens to follow their dreams while still fulfilling their family obligations
LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS/CATSIn partnership with Seattle Public Schools, Broadway Bound produced LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS and CATS during the 2008-2009 school year at Rainier Beach High SchoolDemonstrated success at Rainier Beach High School:Four productions, 26 performances, over 130 students, attendance over 7,000
In 2009, Broadway Bound, at its own cost, brought its program to the Dearborn Elementary School in southeast SeattleOnce each week, every one of the 375 students at Dearborn attends class with instructors from Broadway Bound. An after-school program modeled after its flagship program was introduced in the Fall of 2009Dearborn Elementary School
Reaching Teens“Personally speaking the show made me a stronger person. I have been told I wasnever going to be anything special. Broadway Bound gave me the confidence I neededand the motivation. I have not been in a musical until ‘Dreamgirls.’ We gained somuch respect from other students and even adults. We are working to bring evenmore music and theater to our neighborhood.” -- Shaniqua B.
Reaching Teens“Broadway Bound taught me how to not feel like I need to lash out at people andto feel welcomed and a part of something that I can be proud of. They taught mehow to have courage and self-esteem and not to care about what other peoplethought of me. I would recommend any and everyone to join the program.A lot of good things will come out of it.” -- Tokara T.

The musical is based on books by Dr.Robert J. Landy, head of the Drama Therapy program at New York University, who interviewed over five hundred children from different cultures, races and religions. The insights of these young spiritual thinkers are funny, moving, entertaining and enlightening. Their visions were set to music byBroadway and Las Vegas conductor/composer Keith Thompson.
