The People
• The Inuit lived in
  Nunavut, the
  Northwest Territories,
  and Northern
  Quebec.
Homes
• Inuit used igloos in the old days during winter but
now it’s not a very popular way to live. Igloos are
made with blocks of ice stacked in a circle, they
finish by forming a dome at the top.

• In the summer Inuit make tents for homes. They
are made from wooden poles or whales rib
bones, the poles are spread together in a circle
to form a cone. Then they cover it with animal
skins to keep the cold air out.
Clothing
• The Inuit parkas were made from caribou hides.
Women’s parkas had a pouch to hold babies.
• Inuit pants were from caribou hides. These
would be used to keep out freezing wind, ice and
  snow.
• Mittens were made from sealskin which is strong
  because they are waterproof.
• The Inuit had boots called kamiks. Kamiks were
to be worn on land because they were made
from caribou skin. Other Kamiks used in water
  were made from sealskin.
Food
• Caribou was a main food item for the Inuit. The Inuit
would eat the entire caribou. The Inuit ate the fat the
  bones and the blood.
• The Inuit also ate fish. One of the most regular fish was
called the Arctic Char. They had many ways of eating it.
They eat it raw frozen dried or cooked.
• The Inuit couldn't grow vegetables because it was to
cold. Instead the Inuit ate nuts and berries.
• The Inuit had a type of bread named Bannock.
• Pemmican was meat animal fat and berries mixed
together. Then they dried or stored them in containers.
Tools
• The Inuit had a tool named Unaq. Unaq is a type of harpoon. It was
used to hunt animals such as seals and whales.
• The Inuit had a tool that is called Nitsiq. It is used to pull the animals
  out of the water.
• The Inuit had an idea it was to make wooden goggles to protect
there eyes from the sun. The goggles had thin slits in them so there
would be less light blinding there eyes.
• The Inuit had Komatiks which is a type of sled. The Komatiks are
pulled by at least one dog. But there can be many more.
• Kayaks are used for water travel for the Inuit. The Inuit liked to use
them for hunting and fishing. The Inuit also had larger boats they
would be used to carry people and goods from site to site
