The 2009 Invent Your World Challenge, a collaboration between Ashoka Youth Venture and the Lemelson Foundation, received nearly 300 innovative proposals from youth across 30 countries aimed at improving lives and the environment. The winners, including Javier Fernandez-Han with his versatile system for sustainable waste treatment, and Pablo Alejandro Medrano with disposable insoles for diabetics, showcased inventive solutions to global challenges. Other notable projects included dynamic photovoltaics for affordable solar energy, the Handibot for enabling creativity among the disabled, and a rainwater harvesting initiative in India to enhance community health and sustainability.
