This document analyzes the performance of Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) and Modified Ant Colony Optimization (M-ACO) algorithms for enhancing energy efficiency in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). The study shows that M-ACO outperforms ACO in various metrics, including throughput, transmission delay, packet delivery ratio, and energy consumption, by improving routing efficiency through pheromone evaporation control. The findings indicate M-ACO's superiority in extending network lifespan and minimizing energy utilization across different node scenarios.
