This document presents a review paper on an excess food redistribution system using the Internet of Things (IoT). The proposed system aims to efficiently reduce food waste by enabling real-time and dynamic matching between food vendors and consumers using an IoT-enabled framework. A key aspect of the framework is the use of smart food containers containing sensors to capture the real-time context of food donations from vendors. This would facilitate sharing of excess food with consumers. The proposed framework consists of four main components: a virtual marketplace, data management engine, recommendation engine, and a trust/reputation/fraud prevention engine. An initial prototype of a smart food container was developed to demonstrate the feasibility of the approach. Future work involves adding more sensors
