“-ism”theEnigmaMachineof the
Devil
People now days are defined by some “ism” which is
the very thing Paul said a Christian should NOT
have. (Alcoholism, Pluralism, Individualism)
1Cor 12:25
25) That there should be no schism in the body; but that
the members should have the same care one for another.
This is nothing new the O.T. prophets warned of this
long before modern clinical diagnoses were
invented.
Isa 5:14 Therefore hell
hath enlarged herself,
and opened her mouth
without measure: and
their glory, and their
multitude, and their
pomp, and he that
Amos 4:12 Therefore
thus will I do unto thee,
O Israel: and because I
will do this unto thee,
prepare to meet thy God,
O Israel.

rejoiceth, shall descend
into it.
Cracking the Code:
I. Alcoholism(Self-delusion)
Isa 5:11 Woe unto them
that rise up early in the
morning, that they may
follow strong drink; that
continue until night, till
wine inflame them!
Amos 4:1 Hear this
word, ye kine of Bashan,
that are in the mountain
of Samaria, which
oppress the poor, which
crush the needy, which
say to their masters,
Bring, and let us drink.
This is the second woe. It is pronounced on
drunkenness and revelry. Even the priests erred
through strong drink and were swallowed up of
wine".
Isa 28:7 But they also have erred through wine,
and through strong drink are out of the way; the
priest and the prophet have erred through
strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine,

they are out of the way through strong drink;
they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.
Great banquets were held by the "princes" and
"nobles," beginning at an early hour, and
accompanied by music.

Another day of life by the drop.
I pray to lord, help me stop.
I awake in pain, feeling shame.
Knowing soon again I'll play the game.
For the brief second with my self.
Before I walk over to that shelf.
I stop and think of all the things I do.
And the people I hurt while drinking booze.
I grip the bottle o' so tight.
I won't let go until the night.

All these thoughts rush through my head.
Loves and pride and things I once said.
I know it's from the former me.
The one that can no longer be.
It hits me hard, I cannot cope.
So drink until I start to choke…
Day to day, I live like this.
High to high and kiss to kiss.
I hope one day, the drunk will let me out.
And never again will I drink and shout.
Until that time I'll drown and hate.
I just hope that's not my final fate.
Amos 6:5-6 5 That chant to the sound of the
viol, and invent to themselves instruments of
musick, like David;
6 That drink wine in bowls, and anoint
themselves with the chief ointments: but they
are not grieved for the afflictionof Joseph.

Two kinds of intoxicating liquor seem to have been
consumed at these banquets, ordinary grape wine,
and a much stronger drink, which is said to have
been "made of dates, pomegranates, apples, honey,
barley, and other ingredients," which was known as
"strong drink".
Till wine inflame them; or till they are completely
possessed (influenced) by fermentation (rottenness).

Reality
Amos 6:4-6 4 That lie upon beds of ivory, and
stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the
lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the
midst of the stall;

B. A PoisonofIngenuityto IgnoreInstruction
Isa 5:22 Woe unto them that are mighty to drink
wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:
Mixologist: a person who is skilled at mixing
cocktails and other drinks.
The American Bartenders School advertises an
institute to teach how to mix 500 drink concoctions.
C. A PoisontoEnslaveandInfluenceEvery Actionof
TheDay.
The sixth woe seems at first sight a repetition of the
second. But there is a difference these drinkers do
not succumb to their liquor, or remain at the
banquet all day, but proceed to the business of their
lives, attend courts and judge causes, but with brains
under the influence of a toxic task-master; they are
quick to pervert justice and take a bribe.
Prov 31:4-5 4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is
not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes
strong drink:

5 Lest they drink, and forget the law, and
pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.
II. Pluralism (Corruption)
Pluralism is basically the belief that all world
religions are true and equally valid in their
communication of the truth about God, the world,
and salvation.
Isa 5:20-21 20 Woe
unto them that call evil
good, and good evil; that
put darkness for light,
and light for darkness;
that put bitter for sweet,
and sweet for bitter! 21
Woe unto them that are
wise in their own eyes,
and prudent in their own
sight!
Amos 4:4-5 4 Come to
Bethel, and transgress; at
Gilgal multiply
transgression; and bring
your sacrifices every
morning, and your tithes
after three years: 5 And
offer a sacrifice of
thanksgiving with leaven,
and proclaim and
publish the free
offerings: for this liketh

Jer 4:22 For my people is foolish, they have not
known me; they are sottish children, and they have
none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but
to do good they have no knowledge.
Prov 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right
unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of
death.
Mal 2:17 Ye have wearied the LORD with your

III. Individualism(Rebellion)
Isa 5:18-19 18 Woe
unto them that draw

vanity, and sin as it were
with a cart rope:

his work, that we may

counsel of the Holy One
of Israel draw nigh and
Amos 4:8-13 8 So two

unto one city, to drink

satisfied: yet have ye

blasting and mildew…
yet have ye not

come, that we may know
it!

Jer 23:14 I have seen also in the prophets of
Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery,

and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.
Hos 7:10 And the pride of Israel testifieth to his

“Sin lieth at the door” For Cain sin was knocking at
the door. He opened the door to commune with sin
out of rebellion to Gods command. To have
fellowship with Jesus you must open your hearts
door Rev. 3:20
Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:
if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I
will come in to him, and will sup with him, and
he with me.

IV. Conclusion:
For the Seeker of Self-delusion:Alcoholism is not
the answer that’s the poison of the Devil.
Heb 13:10 We have an altar, whereof they have no
right to eat which serve the tabernacle.
Eph 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is
excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
For the Friend of Corruption: Pluralism may make
you a friend of the world, but it also makes you the
enemy of God.
2Cor 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them,
and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not
the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
Rev 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven,
saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not

partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her
plagues.
For anyone with affection for Rebellion:
Individualism is the Devil’s password to enter his
mold of destruction.
Prov 17:11 An evil man seeketh only rebellion:
therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against
him.
Isa 63:10 But they rebelled, and vexed his holy
Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy,
and he fought against them.
Rev 1:12 And I turned to see the voice that spake
with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden
candlesticks;
Rev 1:17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as
dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying
unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
