- 2. INTRODUCTION Computing technology is ubiquitous, in the form of computers, tablets, smartphones, the web, cloud computing, email, text messages, social media, and much more. It is centrally relevant in the careers and lives of increasingly more people. Computing is the ultimate mental amplifier- computers can mechanize any intellectual activity we can imagine. It has changed the world more than any other invention of the past hundred years. Yet, we are just at the beginning of the computing revolution; today's computing offers just of glimpse of potential impact of computing. The FDP on “Computing Technologies- A Panoramic View” will provide a basic foundation on the concept of various computing technologies. This course provides a hands-on comprehensive study of various computer applications, communication and networks. This programme also provides practice on databases and hands on experiences on robotics. IMPACT - EXPECTED OUTCOME The major focus of the FDP is on upgrading the teaching, training, and research skills of IT faculty and giving them an opportunity to acquaint themselves with recent developments in computing technologies.
