Elastic Compute Cloud and Elastic Block Store • These virtual servers (EC2) are available in a variety of configurations, each with differing amount of CPUs, memory, storage and network performance, and are billed based on an hourly rate. • EBS Attached to a EC2, EBS volumes function like a disk drive, and like a storage drive, persist even after a compute instance have been shut down.

Relational Database Services (RDS) AWS Relational Database Service (RDS) is Amazon’s cloud-hosted, managed RDBMS solution. With RDS, AWS customers don’t need to install, configure and manage popular relational database systems like Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MariaDB or MySQL. RDS allows users to spin up any of these database instances with minimal input from the user. What this means is that users make a few fundamental choices, including the following: • What database software they would like to install • The capacity of the database instance (CPU, RAM, disk space) • The master username and password of the database instance • Backup schedules and maintenance preferences • Any non-default configuration parameter settings • The network (VPC) and region where the instance should run
DynamoDB is Amazon’s footprint in the NoSQL world, its a non relational database management systems. Amazon Redshift is a fast, fully managed data warehouse that makes it simple and cost- effective to analyze all your data using standard SQL and your existing Business Intelligence (BI) tools. You should use Amazon EMR if you use custom code to process and analyze extremely large datasets with big data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, Presto, or Hbase. Amazon EMR gives you full control over the configuration of your clusters and the software you install on them.
