Sample: Handling of a Configuration Alert via Guided Procedure
This example shows a configuration alert on the parameter log_mode. Correct setting of this parameter is vital for ensuring
recoverability of the database.
The screenshots also show another configuration alert due to an incorrect value for parameter Mergedog.

Handling of Configuration Alerts
Both Configuration alerts can be handled along a Guided Procedure available in SAP Solution Manager (as of SAP Solution
Manager 7.1 SP8).
While changing the Parameter Mergedog to its recommended Value is simple and can be performed with standard procedure for
parameter changes, the change of log_mode parameter requires some additional steps, e.g. performing an initial backup.

Change Parameter Value
The incorrect HANA Parameter can be
identified in DBACockpit.
In case the Database user used in
DBACockpit connection has sufficient
authorization, the Parameter change
can be performed directly in
DBACockpit, otherwise access to HANA
Studio is needed.

Guided Procedure tells you the full story
In order to achieve database recoverability, not only the log_mode parameter needs to be changed but also additional steps like
performing a Backup and restarting the database are required.
