This article discusses a new Sentence Pattern Method (SPM) for teaching spoken English to EFL learners. The SPM helps learners convert thoughts in their mother tongue to English sentences easily by using templates with variables. The method was tested successfully with Tamil students, improving their fluency, interest, and reducing nervousness. Key aspects included using simple sentences, focusing on present tense, and creating patterns for common phrases in students' mother tongue. Research findings showed students benefited from understanding fluency problems and applying the SPM approach.
