- 3. 1t Jonathan Banda, ACMA, CGMA I am an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants with over fifteen years of experience management accountancy, business and financial analysis, and strategy development. I have worked in a number of sectors including electricity and energy, information technology, public accounting and business advisory services. I currently working as a management accountant at Piotrans (REA VAYA) and I occasionally lecture CIMA courses (finance strategy and strategic management ) at the Institute of Management Accounting and Strategy (IMAS) in Johannesburg.

June 2012 – Nov 2012 Management Consultant, GIZ / CIDA Support Mission The Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), were joint partners on a support mission in support of Department of Teacher Education to identity procurement needs for the improvement of Initial Primary Teacher Education programme for the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. I was a technical expert on procurement management and primary roles • Providing technical procurement support ensuring that GIZ procedures on procurement are adhered • Monitoring and ensuring that procured items are delivered to the right institution • Managing respective handover protocols. Dec 2011 – Mar 2012 Associate consultant, Management Solutions Consulting Ltd. • I was involved in a functional review of PRESS TRUST, a national trust focusing on social development, education and health. My role was reviewing the Trust’s financial strategy. • I was involved in a Technical Needs Assessment for the Department of Nutrition, HIV and AIDS in the Government of Malawi’s Office President and Cabinet. Funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), its EDSA Malawi (2009 – 2010) program provided financial grants for capacity building in school management. • I was responsible for financial management of the program in Malawi. • Capacity building of beneficiaries’ financial managers March 2010 – Sept 2010 Financial Management Specialist, JBS International Inc. JBS International Inc. is a USA based development consultancy firm. It was engaged by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to develop capacity development strategy and plan for the education sector in Malawi. • Assisted in developing Capacity Development strategy. Financial valuation of the developed strategies Aug 2007 – Dec 2009 Advisory Specialist I was an Advisory Specialist for KPMG Malawi, a firm of certified public accountants and business advisors. Reporting to the Director of Advisory Services, my areas specialist included: • Performance management projects • Financial and business analysis • Business valuations and strategy development projects. Some of my key projects with KPMG: • Strategy development for Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce. The scope of work covered corporate restructuring, organizational development and financial analysis. I was tasked with analyzing the viability of the Chamber, identifying new revenue generating base and financial strategy development. • Strategic plan for the Roads Fund Administration. I was part of an Advisory Services team that facilitated the development of a five year strategic plan. I also played a key role in the development and implementation of a balanced score card performance management system. I led the project initiative and co-ordinated the implementation process. Aug 2001 – June 2002 Business Analyst City Power Johannesburg (Pty) Limited is a South African electricity utility firm. My job involved offering direct business support to the Operations Group’s director of engineering and his six general managers. I was responsible for • Coordinating and consolidation of management accounts for the Operations Group. • Support services to divisional general managers and the Director (Engineering Operations) • Preparing briefing papers, oral presentation of business performance, reviews and general business advisory.
