- 8. AWS (AMAZON WEB SERVICES) In 2006, Amazon Web Services (AWS) began offering IT infrastructure services to businesses in the form of web services. One of the key benefits of cloud computing is the opportunity to replace up-front capital infrastructure expenses with low variable costs that scale with your business. With the cloud, businesses no longer need to plan for and procure servers and other IT infrastructure weeks or months in advance. A region is a named set of AWS resources in the same separate geographic area. Each region has multiple, isolated locations known as Availability Zones. AWS enables the placement of resources, such as instances, and data in multiple locations. Each region is completely independent and is designed to be completely isolated from the other regions. Availability Zones are physically separated within a typical metropolitan region and are located in lower risk flood plains.
