- 1. Kill Bill Quentin Torantino uses the titles ‘our feature presentation’ at the beginning of the film to remind the audience that they are watching a film. Kill bill is an action film, this is very apparent in the first 5 minutes of the film through the codes and conventions used, there is a sound bridge used of a women heavily breathing and footsteps (non diagetic) this is used to create tension. We here the voice of a man saying “ do you find me sadistic” there is a lady laying on the floor and she bruised, this confuses the audience because this is a unusual thing to say to someone especially when they are laying on the floor and they look like they have been left for dead, the image is in black and white this shows us that this film is sterile. There is a close of a women with cuts all over her face and there is fast footsteps, this shows us that something is going to happen. A lot of the shots are fast past this is a typical convention of an action film. We see titles saying “revenge is a dish best served cold” they have used a kilngon proverb because it will engage the audience.
