Kinect is a motion sensing input device by Microsoft that enables users to control the Xbox 360 or Windows PCs through natural gestures and spoken commands without needing a game controller. It uses an infrared camera and sensor to map and track the user's movements and voice in 3D space. The Kinect hardware consists of RGB cameras, infrared cameras, an infrared projector, and a motorized tilt, working together to sense depth by building up objects pixel by pixel from infrared rays.
