Nationalism Pride in your country Pan-German movement was the hope to unite all German speaking people Pan-Slavic movement was the hope to unite all Slavic(russia) speaking people It was hard to do this because 95% speak Slavic, but yet again it was controlled by the Germans. Trench Warfare to protect their position At night supplies were brought in and scouts were sent out At down/dusk attacks came: shoot from the top of the trenches, then fighter hoped over at ran to attack Had to go thought barbwire, and machineguns  Problems in the trenches; body rot, mud, rats, smells, cold, staying dry, maggots, lice, and many diseases   Back

Why the U.S joined WW1 Sinking of Lusitania It was a passenger ship that was secretly caring ammunitions Germans submarine sunk the ship 1,198 passengers died and 128 of them were Americans President Wilson demanded that the Germans apologize and pay for the damage Unrestricted submarine warfare Sussex plead: Germany promised not to sick merchant ships without first warning them and rescuing passengers. By 1917 Germany is defeating Russia on the eastern front, they want a quick victory on the western front. To do this the are unrestricted submarine warfare: sinking all ship headed towards allied nations   Zimmerman note Zimmerman was a German official He sent a letter to Mexico asking them to attack the United States In exchange he promised that Germany would aid them in retraining some of the land that we took from them . U.S at war General perishing led U.S troops By 1917 Germany controlled: Belgium, Italy, and North France 1918 Russia has a revolution and they dropped out of war: now Germany can concentrate on the western front. By July 1918 the U.S had one million troops in the war We Cut off the German rail line which supply their troops We attacked through the Argonne  forest, it takes U.S 47 day and 1.2 million soldiers, but we cut of their supplies  By October 1918 German lines are crumbling In November the allies have capture the high grounds and Germany surrenders The 11 th  hour, the 11 th  day, of the 11 th  month in 1918 the Great War ends!
