- 7. Describe a situation in which a person might gesture frantically. To behave frantically is to behave in a wild, energetic way.
- 8. If you were asked to estimate the number of beans in a jar, would you be expected to count each one? When you estimate an amount of something, you make a careful guess about how many things there are in it.
- 9. Would you like to live in the vicinity of a park? Why or why not? If something is in the vicinity, it is nearby.
- 10. Do most people fall asleep abruptly? Explain. If you do something abruptly, you do it very suddenly.
- 11. Who might scrutinize your homework? When you scrutinize something, you examine it carefully to find out some information about it.
