Generalizations can help organize information but relying solely on labels and stereotypes limits understanding. When used as the sole source of information about people, labels describe only one aspect of who they are. For example, while Uncle Fred may be seen as a biker, he could also be a weekend bartender; and Aunt Jennie, though seen as a librarian, is also a champion athlete who suffers from learning disabilities. Generalizations should not replace considering people's full experiences and identities.
