Project Budburst is a citizen science initiative that tracks the timing of leafing, flowering, and fruiting events of plants each year. Volunteers observe plants in their area and report the dates that plants start budding, flowering, and fruiting to help scientists understand how climate change is affecting the timing of seasonal life cycles. By collecting observations over multiple years, the project aims to detect patterns and measure the impact of climate change on plants across North America.
