“Can ideas really be stolen?”

The answer is yes. And you can get fined for plagiarizing
and get jail time.

Plagiarism, what is it?
O “Many people think of plagiarism as
copying another's work, or borrowing
someone else's original ideas.”
O But it is actually to steal and say it is your
own.

The types of plagiarism
1. “Copy & paste plagiarism”
2. “Word Switch Plagiarism”
3. “Style Plagiarism”
4. “Metaphor Plagiarism”
5. “Idea Plagiarism”

How to avoid the types of
Plagiarism
1. C.P.P. : The way you avoid C.P.P. is to
2. put quotation marks.
3. W.S. : you put quotation marks and cite the
author/website.
4. S.P. : you should just avoid the style how the
author is reasoning.
5. M.P. : You should cite the author/website
that you used it from.
6. I.D. : To avoid you should know the
difference from an author’s answer from
public domain.

How to avoid plagiarizing
O So long story short you should:
O One way to avoid is to cite.
O Another is quotation marks. “”
O Finally is Paraphrasing or summarizing
another person’s spoken/written words

When did it start?
O It was started on May 1790.
O It was passed by the congress.
O And was started in two weeks.

The price
O The price of copyrighting is
$100 and $50,000 depending
on what you copied.
O In some states it is a felony.
O “If you earn more than $2,500 from
copyrighted material, he or she may face
up to $250,000 in fines.”

Jail Time
O Normally the jail time is 1 year.
O But in some states you can get up to 10
years.

Netiquette
Netiquette was started in October, 1995
Some rules are:
O Don’t use all CAPITAL letters, it means your
shouting
O Also don’t put pictures of someone else
without there permission, things that go on the
internet stay on the internet.
O Use appropriate language, don’t say to others
you wouldn’t to them face-to-face.
O Know who you are messaging.
