- 2. Masthead of a magazine: - The magazine title may be onomatopoeic. Kerrang magazine use this because the word ‘kerrang’ represent a guitar crashing, this is used because the genre of the magazine is rock. - Usually the tittle of the magazine starts from the top left corner and spreads across the width of the page. This is eye catching to the reader. - The font is unique and copyrighted, this eventually becomes a logo for the magazine. - The font of the magazine is broken and cracked which reflects the genre of the magazine. This is used so that the audience of the magazine are aware of the genre and context of the magazine.
- 3. Images on a front cover: - Usually there is a mid-close shot of the featured artist of the magazine. This is used to catch the readers attention and give a brief idea of the contents of the magazine. - When the magazine photo is a band or numerous people the frontman/ most common subject of the band will stand out clearer than the rest of their band mates. - The cover lines are based around the main subject and are usually linked into information about the member/ members. - The attitude of the artist/ band on the cover reflects the genre. For example the way Oli is posing in this cover shows that it’s a rock magazine as he is shouting into the microphone. It is important you portray this so the audience know what they are buying. - All the subjects used on the cover maintain eye contact with the camera, this draws attention in from the audience and makes the audience feel like they are a similar person to them.
- 4. Cover lines on a front cover: - Usually the main cover line of the magazine will be linked to the main image too. This is so the image that catches the readers attention will be explained a little with something equally as eye catching. - The text of the main cover line is also the second largest text on the page from the mast head. This is so it stands out clearly and is able to be read clearly to catch attention. - Usually the main cover line has the main artist/musicians name in so you are aware of the context of the magazine.
- 5. Issue date, barcode & promotions - Issue date: Positioned with the issue number, they are shown together on the front cover and the contents also. - Website: Positioned by the issue number and issue date at the top of the contents page. Allows the audience to get more in formation from there website if needed. Page numbers; The page numbers start at the left, they are before the heading. The numbers at a different colour and font from the heading also, this makes them stand out. The headings are only either one word or few words, then it is followed by a short sub line explaining more about article. - Promotions & Competitions: These are situated across the magazine. Usually decorated with bright colours to attract the readers attention and make them become intrigued in what they have to offer. These are alongside discounts which are used to promote advertising and offer value to the customer/reader.

Main headline: - The main headline of a magazine is usually linked to the main image. - The text and font of the main headline are usually quite large to catch attention. - The main headline gives the reader an idea of what the main feature is in the magazine and what is included within the magazine.
- 7. Sky line: -The Sky line of a magazine is situated at the bottom of the cover. This is a list of the artist/musicians that are included in the magazine. This is used so that readers are aware of what they are paying for. - This also may include any promotions or any tour dates that have been released.
