Learning Commons Announcements Week of April 7, 2008
Professor Ed Klekowski's exhibit of WWI artifacts recently found in France is now on display in the Learning Commons of the Du Bois Library at UMass Amherst.  The exhibit includes artifacts found in the St. Mihiel Salient and the Argonne in France, where the forests are still littered with relics from the war years. The artifacts range from a canteen to bullets, shells, and a sword bayonet, among other items. The display will be on view until April 30 th   New Exhibit Features Artifacts from the First World War
VISUAL (Ventures in Science Using Art Laboratory:  http:// www.umassvisual.org / ) is an educational outreach program of the National Science Foundation supported Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC)   The exhibit will feature 13, 32”x28” images selected from VISUAL’s collection, each one captured during research at UMass Amherst.    The exhibit runs until April 29th in ISEL on Floor 2 of the Lederle Graduate Research Center Lowrise Exhibit in the Integrated Sciences and Engineering Library (ISEL) Features  “Images From VISUAL”

Quiet study areas on 2 nd  and 3 rd  floors  provide comfortable seating, electrical outlets, and wireless Internet access Drop-in carrels on 7 th  and 10 th  floors  offer individual study space; day-use lockers also located on these floors. To report noise in quiet areas  in the Library, call  1-2272  from a phone in any elevator lobby, or go to the Building Operations Desk on the entrance level.
