- 3. Update on: DALI – Year 1/Year 2 Learning Spaces at City, University of London - Education and Student Strategy - 2026 Strategy - TEF Return

Year 1: DALI Update ■ Year 1 – Lots of “Lessons Learnt” including: - How the Professional Services Dept.'s work together ☺ - That time to test and handover between internal departments is necessary for successful support services - That communications to Academic’s using new spaces, and information in the room is needed. Summary: 14 rooms completed and handed over

Year 2: DALI Update ■ Current Plan: 24 Rooms During Summer 2017 (4 of which are Drysdale Ground Replacement PC Labs) ■ 3 Rooms at Christmas – Total of 27 rooms (+1) ■ Breakdown: ■ 10 x Lecture Rooms (4 have Lecture Capture) ■ 12 x Lecture Theatres (all have Lecture Capture) ■ 5 x PC Labs (+1) (3 have Lecture Capture) ■ In total 17 + 2 rooms will have upgraded Lecture Capture

Education & Student Strategy Learning Spaces Highlights: Destination: ■ Responsive Learning Environments characterized by formal and informal learning spaces, collaborative learning, engagement with sector leading practice and independent learning and dialogue Step Change Activity: ■ Innovative teaching and learning (e.g. enhanced and appropriate use of educational technologies)(4) ■ Enhancing pedagogical and academic practice (8) (Section 8: Research and Practice Informed Education)

Vision and Strategy 2026 ■ Possible increase in distance and blended (section 2) ■ Our clear challenge continues to be that of working in partnership: internally, with ourselves....(section 2) ■ There is considerable scope for innovation using educational technologies to offer more flexible, student led learning models methods and modular programmes that have the added benefits of making better and more intensive use of the education spaces. (section 4) ■ Learning Environment...continue to move towards the responsive learning environments, characterised by formal and informal learning spaces and collaborative learning which are set out in the education and student strategy 2020. Teaching Excellence Framework Submission 2017 ■ Transforming the City Learning Space Community ■ Points 32 – 36 and 38 all referenced Learning Spaces, including the 2011 formation of this group!! ■ Flexible Learning Spaces Launch in 2013 ■ DALI in 2015 ■ In summary – lots of Learning Spaces on the TEF!
- 9. Drysdale Update ■ 2 x PC Labs of 50 Capacity – Flexible Round Tables as per this room ■ 2 x Group Based Learning PC Labs of 36 + Capacity - Flexible, fold down surface, in groups of 6 ■ 1 x Bench Style PC Lab (similar to ELG10) ■ On course for September 2017 delivery
