Leon Battista Alberti was an Italian architect, painter, poet, priest, linguist, philosopher and cryptographer born in Florence in 1404. He is well known for introducing perspective in his artwork and for his accomplishments as an architect, where he designed many buildings and structures across Italy that are still landmarks attracting tourists today. His use of perspective and innovations in architectural design had a significant and lasting impact on Western art and architecture.
