1. Steps
a) Before the interview
- prepare (how? )

- set objectives (why? )

- design questions ( what? )
1.1. Types of questions
• closed questions ( ´yes´ or ´no´) – AVOID

• open questions (‘what’, ‘where’, ‘where’,
  ‘who’, ‘how’ and ‘why’) – USE

     e.g. Q: Did you like the movie ? A: Yes/No.
Q: What do you think about the movie ? A: Well, I think
                   the movie was….
• multiple questions (…and….)– AVOID
e.g. What do you like eating and what is your favourite sport ?


• leading questions (isn´t it…) – AVOID
e.g. Probably going to school is good for your future, no ?


• discriminatory questions (age, race ..)–
  AVOID
e.g. Are you a gypsy ?
b) During the interview
- Prepare place

- Prepare materials (mic, recording instrument,
  paper & pen )

- Explain the purpose

- Indicate how long is it going to take
c) After the interview

- verify if the tape recorder worked

- write down the observations you have

- prepare the material for analysis

- verify if you have all the info you need
2. Tips & Tricks
• prepare

• design good questions (use simple language)

• remain neutral (don´t express your feelings)

• dress appropriatly
3. Practice
Scene 1: You are an inventor , you have
  invented a flying car

Scene 2: You are a singer, you have just released
  a successful song ´Kiss the frog´

Scene 3: You are an actor/ actress and you have
  just won the Oscar for one of your roles.
