1. Goal / Standard The student will demonstrate an understanding of the foundation of American Democracy. SC Standards Social Studies 8.6
Goal / Standard The student will write in a variety of forms including narrative, expository, and persuasive writings. SC Standards ELA IV. A.
Technology Goal NETS 3. Students use technology tools to enhance learning, increase productivity, and promote creativity.
2. Objective After a discussion of the American Revolution, the student will present at least 5 events that led to the revolution.
3. Anticipatory Set Multiple Means of Engagement  Attention, Motivation, Relevance  Example:  Ever wonder why we are our own country? Why did we not just stay part of England? What Made the Colonists So Mad, Anyway? Did you ever feel like you wanted to leave your parents “rule?”
4. Procedures Initial instruction Multiple Means of Presentation Model / Lead / Test Model:  Present PowerPoint on the American Revolution Give students copies of slides for notes.
Brainstorm Why do you get angry? What do you do about it? Why do parents make some decisions? Why did the colonists get mad? What do they do about it? Why did England make some decisions ?

Evaluation Multiple Means of Expression How will you evaluate the students' performance? What are the specific criteria?  How will you measure?  How do you know if the student meets the objective?
Use the Web & Word to: Create a collage of images. Write a letter to a friend about the problems in America. Make a table comparing causes of American Revolution with problems you have encountered at school or home.
Performance Evaluation Student clearly identifies and labels at least 5 causes of the American Revolution.
