LET’S MOVE
           Essential Question: What is physical activity?
    Unit Questions: How is movement a part of physical activity?
                How many ways can you move to stay physically active?
Content Questions: What are different ways you can move your body?
                  What muscles are used to perform certain movements?
                  What activities can these movements be used in?
Unit Summary
• In this unit the students will be designing a
  competition for the class to compete in. The
  competition will be a combination of track and
  field and gymnastics.
Role of the teacher
• The role of the teacher for this unit will be to
  oversee the competition and to make sure
  that the organization of the competition is
  developmentally appropriate for the students
Role of the parent
• The parents will coming to watch the
  culminating event at the end of the unit which
  will be a full track and field and gymnastic
  competition
Role of the student
• The students role in this unit will be to
  organize and competition for the class. Once
  they have the competition organized then
  they will be responsible for setting up
  practices so that all the students will be able
  to practice the different skills that are
  necessary for the competition
Benefits
• In this unit the students will be learning how
  to remain physically fit in a fun way. The will
  learn different activities that they can do in
  order to keep themselves physically active.
  Another benefit is that the students will be
  acquiring skills that will be useful in keeping
  themselves fit and healthy
Standards
• PE 8th grade 1.) Demonstrate skills utilized in
  lifetime health-enhancing activities
• PE 8th grade 3.) Demonstrate combinations of
  balancing and supporting skills
• PE 8th grade 8.) Apply movement concepts to
  sport, dance, gymnastics, recreational skill
  performances, and other physical activities
Objectives
• Students should be able to organize a formal
  competition
• Students should be able to perform skills for
  track and field and gymnastics
• Students should be able to work together to
  effectively run a competition
