HISTORY and MANDATE

In 1968, started by a church, as a Boys and
 Girls Club for teens, and was called Christian
 Reform Inner City Ministry.
 In 1978, started as helping with refugee

 God's love by offering unconditional
 hospitality, by sharing our resources and by
 helping people in need. We offer an

 Settlement/Refugee/Newcomers
Children's Programs – Summer Camps –
 Vietnamese, Hispanic and Chinese
Family Camps- Entire family (Vietnamese,
 Hispanic and Chinese)
Language – ESL classes
Parenting Workshop -Parenting skills
SERVICES MOST NEEDED
What circumstances bring people to
 the Lighthouse :
 -Being a refugee
 -New comers
 -Counselling
 -Children’s Aid Society sends people
 -Children Programs
 -Food Bank
 It is hard to say what services are most
 needed. However, it might be the Food
AFTER RECEIVING HELP FROM THE
   PROGRAM
   Some people:
- return as sponsors of the program
-return as volunteers
-Some become settled and move o
-are lost track of
CHALLENGE
Language Bias: Clients are from different
countries
Funding: Donations come from
individuals, churches and businesses. This,
however, is not enough. The Government
does not give any support to this
organization.
They need approximately $321,000 to
operate
DREAMS
-If funding was not an issue, a dream would
be to build many Lighthouses around the
city.
-To serve over 2000 people
