Louis Pasteur
Who is Louis Pasteur?

   Louis Pasteur lived from 1822 to
     1895 and was famous for his
     work on curing diseases.
The Life of Louis Pasteur
   Louis married Marie Laurent
     in 1849. He and Marie had 5
     children but only 2 survived
     to become adults. 3 of his
     children died of typhoid.
What did Louis Pasteur do?
   He is well known for inventing a
     process to stop food and liquid
     such as milk from making
     people sick. This is called
     Pasteurization. It helps reduce
     the germs that could cause
     disease while making sure it
     tastes the same.

What else did Louis
       Pasteur do?
   Louis Pasteur helped create
     the first vaccine for rabies
     and saved the life of a
     young boy in 1885 who
     became the first person to
     receive the treatment.
