Ma - A Background As the number of religions increased, there arose a competition which gradually took on the ugly forms of communal riots, which lies dormant but ever ready to burst out at the slightest provocation. Everyday we see around us Clashes and violence of intolerable kinds. These sometimes, don’t last even a day but the impact and suffering of the victims remain as painful reminders. We see the need to infuse the message among the masses that the Spirit of Humanity Strengthens Religion. We have several far more lethal natural and man-made dangers to fight. There is no room for human animosity, rather there is a burning need for collective action. Motherliness is meant to nurture goodwill and compassion and protect, not destroy and harm, which seems like an apt solutions to many of the ills of our society.

Ma – The Ideology The ideology of motherliness underlying Ma is a universal ideology to all religion, caste or sects. It believes that if a community could cultivate and nurture a balanced mind, free of like or dislike, never heeding to rumors and considers the fellow sect people with motherliness then, that would help transform the world. Ma encompasses the simple humane laws of compassion, goodwill and protection as opposed to hatred and harm. Ma follows this belief in thought and action. Ma would be the tool to destroy the enemies of society through the expression of motherliness. It would direct all of humanity to collectively fight common natural and global enemies than each other.

Ma - The Organization Members: Those who receive the Ma ideology, its mission and the organization are Ma members. They could start Ma in their street, residential area or at their organization. Any one can join. The young, old, children, men, women, youth, any community or language or caste can join the Ma Organization. Membership Fee: In a Ma organization of a street or an area, no fees is required to enroll as a member. If any funds are needed for administration, the governing members can collect a minimal amount as registration fee. The members of that particular branch of Ma Organization should manage the funds. Member Guidelines: Members would choose a cause, an area of service or activity that would unite the community members together. Four factors are needed in fulfillment of a task. Authority Delegation of job Guidance Motivation. Any task with these factors will be accomplished successfully with no doubt.

Ma - Activities Good deeds need advertisement It is commonly known of religion clashes even a meager one finds its enormous form through the passage of word of mouth and makes a vast damage of all kinds to the society. At the same time there are lot many people who work silently for the welfare of other religion. Their actions were not advertised. Instances, which depict humanity, should be thrown to the awareness of common public though media to create a conflict free society. Members of Ma will create awareness and teach people to examine the facts before getting into action. Simple rumors through word of mouth could create great harm. They will also propagate the virtues of tolerance, patience with perseverance. The members of Ma will take this ideology to school and college students. For the mind of the young are like wet cement on which lasting impressions can be made. Members will seek to leave the impressions of love, compassion and peace in the young minds.

Ma - Pledge “ I the member of Ma will adhere to motherliness through out my lifetime whole-heartedly. I hereby vow to toil towards the attainment of unity among various caste, creed, community and language. I will work my best to implement the action plans one by one. I will integrate all people to create a peaceful and sociable new world ” All the members of Ma should take this Pledge.

Ma, Ma’ism & Ma’ist Practise “Ma” Adopt “Ma’ism” Become a “Ma’ist”

Introducing the principle, concept & ideology Humans in general identify themselves with any of the numerous ‘isms’ prevailing. No doubt each ‘ism’ carries an ideology or message for the betterment of humankind. But unfortunately the moment people accept one ‘ism’ , they develop difference of opinion with those, having another or opposite ‘ism’ . The ‘ill-will’ may manifest itself into hate and dislike and may lead to, from verbal attacks to fights, attacks and wars. Now there is a very urgent need of an ‘ism’ to unite people which will make them not to dislike others wedded to another ‘ism’ . On the contrary it will make them to develop kindness and love with people having different ideology or faith. It is one exclusively unique concept which has the power to unite people and it is Ma or Ma’ism . What is Ma’ism?.Those who accept Ma’ ism , a word and concept for unlimited and unconditional love, become Ma’ ist.

“ Ma” Ma stands for mother . Mother is God present in human form. Motherliness is a beautiful quality practiced by mothers .This is also seen in many men and women ,old and young and even a child. “All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother” , said Abraham Lincoln. Alphonese de Mamartime said “The loss of a mother is always felt; even though her health may incapacitate her from taking any active part in the care of her family , still she is a sweet rallying-point, around which affection and obedience and a thousand endeavours to please, concentrate ; and dreary is the blank when such a point is withdrawn” When it is possible by a human species called mothers or Ma in short form , how it cannot be possible for others to emulate .

“ Ma’ ism” There are wonderful role models for those who want to embrace kindness. There are great examples in Mahatma Gandhi and Mother Teresa for humanity to emulate and to be always humanitarian. We need simpler versions of the great leaders always available with easy accessibility. We have such models everywhere, in your home or your neighbour’s home. That is Mother who is indeed always an embodiment of love , kindness and compassion to her children. That quality of Mother has been now conceptualised as “Ma’ism” so that it is easy to refer , define , describe and emulate. When a person says that his ideology is “Ma’ism” , he makes others understand that he will be kind to others , like a mother to a child. If more people accept “Ma’ism” , there will be love and kindness everywhere in the planet flowing from all directions

“ Ma’ist” Ma’ist is the one who subscribes to Ma’ism. The one who practises Maism is a Maist Something strange of Ma , Motherliness or Ma’ism is that it is not only Mother has this quality nor ma’ism is her exclusive property. Father , brother, sister, grand mother, grand father, relatives, friends, neighbours and even strangers have it. A man, sick on a bed, witnesses mother’s kindness shown even by his children. You can see people showering love and kindness that of a mother to a stranger injured in a road an accident and doing their best to save his life. If all of us, all the time, with all the people in all the places feel and exhibit Motherliness, what a great difference would it make. A famous quote “God could not be there everywhere, and therefore he made Mothers” .

Comprehend! Change! Come let’s make the change! Let us form A Real New world! With this as our motive, let’s get into action to make a Better New World for our future generation. Let us assume the role of mother when we deal with others .Let us adopt ‘Ma’ism , create a caring and sharing community and world of love and compassion. Ma has an Organisation will do everything to promote motherliness in every human being Become a Ma today. Declare to yourself and your circle of friends and relatives that you embraced Ma and you will follow ma’ism as you a ma’ist. Those who join / start a "Ma" chapter before 30th June 2009 will be recognized as part of "MA Co-founding Team"

Activities of Ma Guidelines for Ma Members Members of Ma will try their best to eradicate the differences and barriers of caste, creed, community and language. Members will be alert and at the slight indication of clashes of any difference, they will plunge into action to put it off at the slightest trace of agitation itself. Members will work to bring people of various languages and of caste together.

Members will encourage people from other communities to erect wishing banners on the processions of other community people. And set up water booths for the people who were taking part in the possession. Members will send warm wishes and distribute sweets on the occasion of the other community’s festive occasions. By drawing god images of all religions, member will ensure the communal unity of their neighbourhood. They will do good gestures for people of other sects and encourage them to do the same.

Members will inform concerned beneficiaries, about donors for blood donation. Members will identify people who work towards the unity of people of various castes, creed, language and community and award them Ma Rathinam for their service to community. Members will display placards carrying quotes of unity that would carry the message to the common public. Members will encourage people to partake and offer support in the good and bad events of other people and they will encourage people to help the poor (like students and elderly) of other communities too.

Members will conduct oratory, drawing and essay writing competitions for students on Ma ideology. Guidelines to conduct such events are given in this book. Members will motivate and bring people into action and keep clean the places of worship of other religions. They will also ensure such deeds were carried out especially during their festive time. Members will prompt people to allocate welfare funds to other communities too and also organize communal feasts. Members will propagate the Thirukural’s sayings on love and inspire people to follow those kurals.

Members will gather the good thoughts of all religions and spread them across the society like the fragrance of a flower. There are many people who lecture on the greatness of the other religions which they don’t belong. Roping in such people, members will organize discourses to let people know of the greatness of other religions too. For instance the good values of Hinduism will be discoursed by Muslims and Christians and vice versa. The people whose mother tongue is different to others will try hard to speak the language of majority. Members will help them to get proficiency of language and speak to them in common places and in turn learn from the minority members as well thus establishing a mutual interest and bond amongst themselves.

In every village or town, members will work towards preventing conflict and promote the unity and peace by carrying out the action plan of Ma without fail. In acknowledgement of the greatness of leaders of nation and religion, statues are erected honouring their service to the society. This indeed is a traditional welcoming gesture but in case of any untoward incident like the defacement of the statue by anti-social elements, then the blame is immediately shoved on the members of other sects. Hence there must be a system wherein members of all communities show respect to the sentiments of others, in an effort to maintain peaceful relations. In order to realize ideal communal harmony this action plan should be entrusted.

In Rome be a Roman When people from native regions shift to an alien speaking area they would often feel some awkwardness in getting to know the new people. There could also lead to misunderstandings, and later result in being alienated by the locals. Ma plays a vital role here by advising such people to first learn to speak the language spoken by the people of that place. This will definitely help to develop good will among your neighbours. Also do not fraternize or take sides with members of your own community too much in public and never speak ill of another community in public.

Imagination is boundless The action plans listed above is just a guideline to the members. There are numerous similar actions that can be left to the imagination and creativity of the members, keeping in mind the essence and goal of Ma. Successes brought about through the implementation of any innovative action can be shared with the other Ma organizations through head quarters

Ideal mother So are there any exceptional mothers to our society who are role model to Ma members? Well, history has seen some great examples of such love and compassion. One such icon is Mother Teresa. She rendered herself to the service of God and humanity. To pursue her mission she remained a nun for her lifetime, but she is indeed a Mother to the universe and every human on earth is her child. Members of Ma should work in a committed way to attain such motherliness as hers in whatever way they can. Even our Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi possessed such motherliness and our ex President of India Dr. A.B.J. Abdul Kalam exhibited the fine qualities when he spent time to converse and be in the company of children, again because he possessed the heart and ambitions of mother who teaches her children everything they will need to know on their journey to a successful life.
