Creating the back-cover
Institutional
We have added usual conventions of a CD back cover such as: information
Track list
We changed the colours of the track In order to make
list to yellow because we wanted it look more
them to stand out against the realistic we added
background image and make it easier institutional
for audiences to trace through when information so
looking for a particular song. Also, that audiences
the band is called ‘The colours’ so we know that its not
decided to use bright colours for the accepted if they
typography on the back cover copy right the
                                                                                         songs. We made
                                                                                         the font red later
                          spine on, because the
                                                                                         colour red has
                                                                                         connotations of
      Barcode warning,
                                                                                         highlighting the
                 Record label/company: fact that
We used our first initials of our names to come up with a name for a audiences should
record company. The typography we used is different than the other not copy.
fonts on the back cover. The reason why we have done that is because
we wanted it to make it more stand out and eye catching. In addition,
we also put a stroke around the letters to make it stand out even
                 more.
• The pose we have chosen for the back cover is
similar to the Artic Monkeys pose on one of
their album covers. We believe this pose looks
very natural as two of the band members look
away from the camera. However, Jordan
(middle) looks into the camera in order to show
audiences that he is the lead singer. Similarly we
made him pose in the middle so that audiences
easily can recgonise him as a lead singer.
We blurred the background so that it would look more
professional, rather then two separate images. We asked
audiences if they realised something unusual about the
background cover and the replied no so therefore we knew
that blurring them together works out successfully. The
• We cropped out a part of the background
from another similar picture we toke on
brightness and contrast of the background image was also
the same day and merged it together lowered so that the bright colours would be more
with the previous image that we already outstanding and eye catching.
had. The reason why we did this is
because the image was too small and if
we would have stretched out the
image, the band members would overlap
    with the song titles.
• The albums name is called canvas and in order to emphasis this, we decided to
make the image look as if it has been painted on a canvas.
• Another idea we had was to have the background of the image cut out so that
the canvas can clearly be seen. Although this made the typography stand out,
the final product did not look finished. It was also very difficult to get the edges
of the image to bled in with the image of the canvas. The rough edges made
    the album look unprofessional.
