Making The Call
- 2. In the Bible we find three different time periods in which God deals with humans in three different ways, so to speak. The first time period starts with God creating humans and giving them a job to do.

- 10. The time period that all this happens in is referred to as the patriarchal age. That just means God dealt with people through the patriarch, head of the family. Now we enter a different span of time.
- 11. The nation that has grown out of Abraham’s grandson Jacob, who was renamed Israel, has been slaves in Egypt for 400 years. God speaks to Moses from a burning bush. He makes the call for him to become a savior, so to speak, and bring the nation of Israel out of Egypt.

- 30. So, he’s writing to the church in Corinth that is made up of those who have been made holy, consecrated, set apart and called to be sacred. The people he is writing to have already believed Jesus is the Son of God, turned away from their sinful life in repentance, had their sins washed away and received the gift of the Holy Spirit by being baptized.
- 31. Paul is writing them to encourage them to continue to grow in and serve the Lord Jesus. The word is used several times just in the first chapter of Paul’s first letter to the Christians in Corinth.
- 36. It all boils down to what many think is silly nonsense, Jesus death being God’s power to save us. Did you notice twice in these few verses it says God calls people? If God does the calling what part would we have in it?
- 37. We, those of us who have come to believe Jesus provides our way to God, have a BIG part in God calling people to him through Jesus Christ. This is stated point-blank in the 5th chapter of Paul’s second letter to the Church in Corinth.
- 41. If we belong to Christ, are a new creation, are Christians, we are obligated to live not for what we want, but live for what He wants. And what does He want? He wants us to leave our old way of life behind and live a new way, for Him. Verse says out right that we are Christ’s ambassadors, His representatives. So God is calling people to become reunited with Him through us.
- 42. How does this relate to, “Making the Call?” If we have been reunited with God through Christ and are living life in a new way, the way we live is calling people we come into contact with back to God. The old saying is true, “seeing a sermon is better than hearing one.”
- 43. People do notice how you live. Are the things you do every day pointing toward Jesus, or away from Him? When someone sees how well you act and how clean the things you say are it could give you the opportunity to explain why you handle things the way you do. Because Jesus who had no sin took yours allowing you to receive God’s approval.

The Lord willing, we are going to delve deep into the arsenal to study & learn how, when & why each of us is called to bring people to Jesus.
