This document summarizes a master's thesis that models and simulates a solar heating system for a residential building in Astana, Kazakhstan. The thesis examines solar radiation levels in the local climate, models heat transfer in solar collectors, and simulates the overall solar heating system. An economic analysis compares the lifetime costs of a solar heating system to conventional electric heating systems under different electricity price scenarios. The computer program developed can calculate heating loads, optimize collector tilt, simulate the solar heating system operation, and evaluate the financial viability of the system.
