This document calculates the costs associated with using ocular dewlap inversion (ODI) versus debeaking to determine the pricing of ODI lenses. It estimates savings from ODI in mortality, feed usage, and prevented egg loss, finding a total savings of 23.58 cents per bird per year from using ODI rather than debeaking. Labor costs are estimated to be similar between the two methods. Mortality is reduced more with ODI, saving an estimated 10.80 cents per bird annually. ODI also saves an estimated 8.36 cents per bird yearly in feed and 4.42 cents from preventing egg loss due to trauma.
